7 Energy Tips for a More Happy and Fulfilling Year

Do you find that each year tends to be much the same as the last?

You might have every intention of making changes, but somehow life just seems to take over and before you know it, another year has flown by and things are just the same as before.

Or sometimes you might be so focused and intent on making your life or business a success, that you forget to actually enjoy yourself.

 

7 Energy Tips For A More Happy and Fulfilling Year

Here are a few tips I’ve found most helpful in creating the success that I want in my life and business, and allowing me to enjoy the process.

 

1. Take Time to Reflect

When a new year begins it brings new hope and new possibilities. Often, you can’t wait to jump in and you tell yourself that this year you’ll do things differently and finally have the breakthroughs you’ve been looking for.

Before you take too much action though, it can be extremely helpful to reflect on the past year – what were the highlights? What were the low points? What did you learn? Pause and take a moment to acknowledge your accomplishments and successes, the things you feel good about.

Identify what didn’t work, what you don’t feel good about and ask yourself what you can learn from these situations and what you want to release.

Yes, it’s exciting to move forward and begin a new year, and at the same time, if you take a few moments to reflect on the past year, and re-assess what worked and what didn’t.

What you want to continue and what you want to release.

This helps to bring your energy into alignment with what you want and it will help you move forward more effectively, more efficiently, and with a greater sense of ease.

 

2. Have a Focus

What do you want this year to be about?

Is this the year you take charge of your health? Or is it the year you improve your career or your business? Or perhaps you want to focus on improving your relationships this year.

Having a focus helps you know what to put your energy towards and can help you stay committed to what’s most important to you.

This is not the same as a resolution or a goal. A focus is something that will be your top priority, something that you’ll put time and energy into no matter what. If you try something and it doesn’t work, you simply try something else.

For example, if I say health is my primary focus and I start by saying I will go to the gym every day, but then after a couple of weeks I find that I’ve stopped going, then it doesn’t mean I’ve failed. It simply means that was not the right thing for me, so I try something else and I keep trying new things until I find what works.

3. Maintain Your Focus Daily

To help you maintain your focus, every morning when you wake up, ask yourself “what’s the most important thing I can do today that will help me create the success I desire?” Tune out all distractions and make sure you accomplish this one thing each day.

By asking yourself this question each morning you will be setting yourself up for success and making sure that nothing else gets in the way.

 

4. Practice the No Complaining Rule

It’s surprising how many things we can find to complain about. Complaining generates negative energy and is extremely counter-productive, and nobody likes to be around a complainer.

Pay attention every time you feel like complaining and do your best to turn the complaint into something positive and productive.

This is not as easy as it sounds. Once you pay attention, you’ll probably notice that there are many things you complain about: the weather, the traffic, the length of the checkout line at the grocery store, your computer not starting up fast enough, etc.

5. Show More Gratitude Every Day

One way to reduce stress and be happier is to take time every day to be thankful. Keep a gratitude journal and each morning or night write at least one thing (preferably more) you are thankful for that day. It will help you focus on the positive things even when times are tough!

A great addition to this is to actively look for things to be grateful for and appreciate as you go about your day. Focus more on what you are grateful for than on what you find annoying.

 

6. Pay Attention to What’s Working

At the end of each day make a note of what went well that day. What was the highlight of the day? What did you accomplish that you feel good about? Putting more energy into what is working will bring more things to feel good about.

 

7. Challenge Yourself

It is easy to get stuck in a rut doing the same things day after day. Exciting things happen when you take risks and challenge yourself. Find ways as often as possible to stretch your limits.

Do something difficult and don’t worry about failing – that’s when the learning happens.

Learn a new skill, try out a new sport, learn something new that you can apply to your business. Keep your mind fresh and motivated. The best things happen when you step out of your comfort zone.

 

Moving Forward

If you feel stuck in a rut you don’t have to stay there.

Change is always possible, but in order to change your external circumstances, you must first change yourself. Being happier really is a choice.
