However, Odom struggled often in Dallas, and his relationship with the team didn’t last long. Ultimately, he left the team in early 2012.

Later, it was revealed that an argument with Mavericks’ owner, Mark Cuban, had been the deciding factor in Odom’s exit.

Lamar Odom returned to the Clippers in June 2012 and played in all 82 games for the third time in his career.

With his help, the Clippers were able to win their first-ever Pacific Division title, fishing 56-26.

In July 2012, Odom became a free agent, and while the Clippers considered re-signing him, they decided to commit to other players instead.

Odom’s Other Ventures

After leaving the Clippers, Lamar Odom signed with Laboral Kutxa Baskonia in the Spanish and Euroleagues.

However, he played in only two games before a back injury benched him, and he signed up with the New York Knicks in 2014.

In 2018, Lamar joined Mighty Sports and, the following year, became captain of the Enemies squad in the 3×3 basketball league.

Odom tried his hand at boxing in 2021, engaging singer Aaron Carter in an exhibition match before fighting Ojani Noa.

In a live interview on ESPN, Williamson committed to attending Duke University, playing his first game for them in November 2018.

Soon after, he broke the record for the most points recorded in a single game and was named ACC Freshman of the Week once more.

Unfortunately, in February 2019, Williamson was benched with a knee sprain after his shoe broke, causing him to slip.

Following the incident, Nike’s stock dropped $1.1 billion, while Williamson earned Rookie of the Year and Player of the Year honors.

Soon after, he surpassed Carmelo Anthony as the first teenager to score at least 20 points in 10 consecutive games in NBA history.

He became the first rookie since Michael Jordan to earn 16 20-point games within their first 20 contests.

Following his rookie season, Zion Williamson tied Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s record for the longest 20-point streak in his first two seasons.

His streak eventually surpassed Wilt Chamberlin and Karl Malone’s streaks, tying him with Shaquille O’Neal’s record of 25.

While things were going well for the basketball star, during the 2021 off-season, he suffered a fracture in his foot and underwent surgery.

Williamson missed the entirety of the 2021-2022 season, but in July 2022, he signed a five-year extension with the Pelicans.

He returned in October 2022 and earned Western Conference Player of the Week honors before being sidelined with a hamstring injury in January.

Ultimately, he ended up sitting out the rest of the season and made his comeback in November 2023.

Favorite Quotes from Zion Williamson

“I was sitting in [rookie forward] Kevin Knox’s locker. I saw [former Knicks superstar Kristaps] Porzingis’s locker right when I walked in, but you know, outta respect for him—he’s a very great player, and hopefully, I can get to that level. He’s an MVP-caliber player.” – Zion Williamson

“No, not at all. I don’t know how to describe it. Everybody on the team—even though I’m closest with R.J., I can go hang out with Justin Robinson, Brennan Besser, Mike Buckmire… We all hang out with each other. There is no odd man out.” – Zion Williamson

“Coming in, we understood that yeah, we’re good, but freshmen don’t really win the national championship. You always need veteran support. We just learn from them. We take in everything we can.” – Zion Williamson

“I mean, we both understand the situation, but the only thing we can do is go out, play our best, try to win as a team because, at the end of the day, an NBA team is gonna pick who they want. You see some of these guys who’ll go for 40 points and stuff—but that doesn’t really affect your draft pick.” – Zion Williamson

“I’m not always gonna play 30-plus minutes, and that’s something I knew before I came here. So if I play 20 minutes, I’m not fazed by it at all, because that just comes along with being on a great team.” – Zion Williamson

3 Key Business Lessons from Zion Williamson

Zion Williamson Success Lessons

Now that you know all about Zion Williamson’s net worth and how he achieved success, let’s take a look at some of the lessons we can learn from him:

1. Risk is Only One Misstep Away

Freakish though the event was, the massively public sneaker malfunction (less than a minute into a much-anticipated Duke vs. North Carolina game) highlights the unexpected but serious nature of risk.

We often think of risk as being simply the province of insurance and investment companies, but that’s far from accurate.

All companies face different risks depending on the nature of their environments. No matter the business, you can’t overestimate the value of sound, solid risk management.

2. You Can Never Take Quality for Granted

Whatever your business. Whether it’s microchips, jet engines, lettuce-growing, being a priest, or writing articles for Forbes, it requires continual vigilance. Severe fault lines in quality have a way of being quickly exposed.

3. Avoid Teams Who Are Over-Reliant On One Key Player

Avoid teams ho have a clear weakness that can be exploited by smart opponents in high-stakes situations, or who have shown a history of crumbling under pressure.

These teams are fragile, making it tougher to run the table through a postseason.

Why purchase a vase that’s about to break?

This explains his interest in the game from an early age and his one-on-one with Danilo Gallinari at age 12 during a visit to Milan.

He learned the importance of basketball IQ from his father, who helped Devin with his skill development alongside his natural athleticism.

Devin became friends with future NBA players D’Angelo Russell and Tyler Ulis during middle school, spending their time together, honing their skills.

Tyler Ulis was selected in the 2016 NBA Draft by the Phoenix Suns and also joined the Chicago Bulls and Sacramento Kings.

D’Angelo Russell was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers and played for several other teams, including the Brooklyn Nets, Golden State Warriors and Minnesota Timberwolves.

Transferring To Moss Point High School

Devin transferred to Moss Point High School in Mississippi and scored 17 points in a game, outscoring his teammates combined, during his sophomore year.

He also hit a buzzer-beater from beyond half court during his sophomore year and was named Southeast Player of the Week by ESPNHS.

Devin was named South Mississippi Player of the Year by Sun Herald as a sophomore and participated in various prestigious basketball camps.

He switched to point guard for his junior year, and he scored 48 points against Ocean Springs High School during that season.

Devin unfortunately suffered a sprained MCL during his junior year but narrowed his college choices to Kentucky, Michigan, and Missouri during senior year.

Signing A National Letter Of Intent

He then signed a National Letter of Intent to play for Kentucky in his senior year,  becoming Moss Point’s all-time career scoring leader.

Booker was named MVP of the Mississippi team in the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star game and participated in the McDonald’s All-American Game during his senior year.

Devin played alongside NBA players Jahlil Okafor, and Trey Lyles and participated in the Jordan Brand Classic during his senior year.

He scored 43 points in the South Mississippi All-Star Basketball Showcase and signed a five-year, $158 million contract extension with the Phoenix Suns in 2018.

This contract extension formalized Devin Booker’s commitment to the Suns and demonstrated the team’s belief in his talent and future with the team.

Reaching 5,000 Career Points

He became the fifth-youngest player in NBA history to reach 5,000 career points in 2019 and scored 59 points in a game against the Utah Jazz in 2019.

Playing against players such as Donovan Mitchell, Joe Ingles, Ricky Rubio and Rudy Gobert, he more than held his own, despite his age.

Devin then became the youngest player in NBA history with consecutive 50-point games in 2019, achieving this remarkable feat at the age of 22.

He made his first All-Star appearance in 2020 and earned him a spot among the NBA’s elite players during the 2020 All-Star Games.

Devin was now playing against players such as LeBron James from the Los Angeles Lakers and Jayson Tatum from the Boston Celtics.

A Successful 2020 Season

He led the Phoenix Suns to an 8–0 record in the NBA Bubble in 2020 and reached the NBA Finals with the Phoenix Suns in 2021.

Devin scored 27 points in Game 1 of the 2021 NBA Finals and then went on to score 31 points in Game 2.

He was named to the All-NBA First Team in 2022 and helped the Phoenix Suns achieve a franchise-record 18-game winning streak in the 2021–22 season.

Fourth All-Star Selection

In a 131–128 victory over the Utah Jazz in November 2023, Booker earned a career-high 15 assists in addition to 24 points.

This was followed by a 110-89 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies later in November, scoring 40 points, including 3 of 4 from beyond the arc.

In a 116–113 victory over the New York Knicks on November 26, Booker recorded 28 points, 11 assists, two blocks, and the game-winning three-pointer.

At the Gainbridge Fieldhouse, Booker established a record for the most points scored in a game, the fourth venue in which he had done so.

Booker was named an All-Star for the fourth time in 2023 and scored a career-high 62 points against the Indiana Pacers in 2024.

He was named Western Conference Player of the Month for the third time in his career in 2024, an impressive achievement for the young player.

Booker played against Anthony Davis from the Los Angeles Lakers and Kevin Durant from the Brooklyn Nets, formerly with the Golden State Warriors.

Favorite Quotes from Devin Booker

“I’m not the strongest, I’m not the fastest, I can’t jump the highest, so for me, it’s doing it in other ways: changing paces, using your body to get open, knowing your defender. A lot goes into it. You have to study the game.” – Devin Booker

“I seen an interview with Kobe; he said what separated him from a lot of people was everyone thought 30 points was a lot. He said he never set himself a limit, and that always sticks in my head. So he never had a limit, I don’t put a limit on anything.” – Devin Booker

“Michigan’s been recruiting me since the eighth grade, so they have a special place in my heart, I’d say, because I’ve visited there seven times, and my mom lives in Michigan, still, and she’d probably like me to stay closer to home and play.” – Devin Booker

“It’s hard because, throughout your whole career, you’re known as the top player, the best on your team, you’re playing the most minutes, and then you might not get in the game. You don’t know when you’re going to get in the game.” – Devin Booker
