What is Chris D’elia’s net worth?

Introduction

As of July 2024, Chris D’Elia’s net worth is approximately $10 Million.

Chris D’Elia is an American stand-up comedian, actor, writer, and podcast host from New Jersey. He is known for playing Alex Miller on the NBC sitcom ‘Whitney’ and Danny Burton on the NBC sitcom ‘Undateable’.

Early Life

Christopher William D’Elia was born on the 29th of March, 1980, in Montclair, New Jersey.

D’Elia is the son of TV producer and director Bill D’Elia and interior decorator Ellie D’Elia. He has a younger brother, filmmaker/actor Matt D’Elia. His father is a second-generation Italian-American, and his mother is of Polish and Italian descent.

D’Elia inherited his love of acting from his parents, Bill D’Elia, a television producer in the 80s, and Ellie D’Elia, an interior decorator.

His passion for acting started in high school, where he showed off his talent by earning guest roles, including one in the series “Chicago Hope.” D’Elia’s early exposure to acting and comedy led him to pursue further studies at New York University to better his skills.

Career

Chris D'elia's Career

Although Chris attended New York University to study acting, he decided to drop out after a year to pursue other avenues.

During his free time, he started writing his own scripts and decided to pursue a full-time career in stand-up comedy.

He started performing stand-up comedy, with his first set at the “Ha Ha Cafe” in North Hollywood and on Comedy Central Presents.

In that same year, he appeared on Comedy Central’s “Live at Gotham,” which significantly expanded his audience.

He worked with some of the richest actors in the world and was cast in Glory Daze, which ran for one season.

Chris also played Kenny on the television series The Good Doctor and Danny Burton on the sitcom Undatable.

The show often incorporated improv, with a cast of stand-up comics who were friends before they went on multiple tours to promote the show.

He also co-starred opposite comedian Whitney Cummings on the NBC comedy series for two seasons, broadening his comic exposure massively.

Later, he became one of three hosts in the “Ten Minute Podcast” alongside Bryan Callen and Will Sasso.

Collaborating With Eminem

He was also the host of the weekly podcast “Congratulations with Chris D’Elia,” which has charted in the top 20 comedy Podcasts.

Listeners to his podcast are often referred to as “Babies,” likely reflecting his comedic style and his way of creating a sense of community.

Along with his growing success, he has gained over 2 million followers on Vine, showcasing his comedic talents to a younger audience.

In 2013, he released his debut parody rap album as MC Chank Smith, titled “Such Is Life,” which was a huge success.

Chris released his first one-hour stand-up special, “White Male Black Comic,” on Comedy Central, followed by three more on Netflix.

He got the lead role on the NBC sitcom as Danny Burton from 2014 to 2016, highlighting his acting and improvisation skills.

At the same time, he headlined the Leafly 420 Comedy Tour show in Chicago with special guest comedian Ron Funches.

Soon after, he was cast in the hit Netflix thriller series “You,” becoming a recurring role in the second season.

Chris also imitated rapper Eminem in his podcast, making fun of his middle-aged fans – despite this, Eminem thought it was hilarious.

If that wasn’t enough, the positive response he got from Eminem led to Chris collaborating and gaining recognition from the rapper.

Brendan Schaub and Theo Von added D’Elia to their podcast “King and the Sting” and then renamed it “King and the Sting and Wing.

Maintaining His Name

A year later, it was announced that he would be replaced by Tig Notaro in “Army of the Dead” due to claims of sexual abuse.

Despite his denying these allegations, Spotify removed several episodes of The Joe Rogan Experience featuring the comedian, but no reason was given.

These allegations have caused major setbacks in his career, such as his removal from multiple platforms and replacement in ongoing projects.

He addressed the allegations against him in a 10-minute YouTube video on his channel “Congratulations Podcast,” where he denied any criminal activity.

During this time, he was being sued by an anonymous woman in federal court for alleged abuse – she dropped the lawsuit a month later.

Despite challenges, he continues to maintain a presence in the entertainment industry with ongoing projects, such as featuring in “Logic’s” music video.

Chris’s brother Matt D’Elia has influenced his career, as have his comedic inspirations, Jim Carrey and Eddie Murphy, his all-time favorite.

Since day one, despite some major setbacks, he has established a significant following on social media platforms for his stand-up comedy.

He recently appeared on the YouTube channel “Hot Ones,” where he eats progressively hotter chicken wings, maintaining good humor despite the pain.

Chris has also started his own website, where you can buy his branded merchandise, watch his stand-up comedy, and keep up with his itinerary.

He is currently on his stand-up show tour, “Don’t Push Me Baby,” with tickets selling out fast in almost every venue.

“I definitely am a performer, and there are different styles of stand-up; I mean, some people are writers and they get onstage to get jokes out, and that’s definitely not what I do. I like to just go up and, if I’m telling a story about someone, I’ll play his or her part.” – Chris D’Elia

Favorite Quotes from Trevor Noah

“In my world, a woman was the most powerful thing that I knew. Still is. A woman made the money in my house; a woman made my food. Women were behind a lot of what spurred South Africa toward democracy.” – Trevor Noah

“I’ve come to learn as an adult that love is a hell of a drug. It’s one of the most dangerous things that human beings can have. It’s also one of the most beautiful things that human beings can possess because love, on one hand, gives you the ability to care for a human being sometimes more than you would care for yourself. Love, unfortunately, sometimes gives you the ability to forgive somebody and blind yourself to the truth.” – Trevor Noah

“As an outsider myself, I always mixed myself with different groups…I’ve never been afraid to go into a different space and relate to those people because I don’t have a place where I belong and that means I belong everywhere.” – Trevor Noah

“Comedy is a great tool. We [comics] are trying to find ways to use humor to enlighten people without preaching to them.” – Trevor Noah

“I speak English, obviously, Afrikaans, which is a derivative of Dutch that we have in South Africa. And then I speak African languages. So I speak Zulu. I speak Xhosa. I speak Tswana. And I speak Tsonga. So I’m trying to make that officially my seventh language. And then, hopefully, I can learn Spanish.” – Trevor Noah

Favorite Quotes from Frank Caliendo

“It’s a simple and an effective way of getting everyone on the same page, prepared and paying attention to the gag. People get into that frame of mind of you doing impressions. It can take a minute or two for an audience to catch on when you aren’t doing one.” – Frank Caliendo

“When I used to watch vaudevillian impressionists, people like Rich Little or Frank Gorshin, I always felt like the voice was the only point. I didn’t want to do that. I wanted to be of the Robin Williams or Jonathan Winters model, where observation and storytelling was important.” – Frank Caliendo

“If it’s just the voice, then you can only do jokes. It’s not really even about the impression so much. It’s about the take and what you do with the person. I try to get a character across with the impression.” – Frank Caliendo

“With Twitter, it’s a little harder to tell jokes that somebody hasn’t heard already. You have all these people out there sharing their opinions and telling jokes in real time, and by the time you get on, somebody’s already done some version of what you’re trying to do.” – Frank Caliendo

“Fox does the NFL a lot like they program the rest of the network. There’s sort of a locker room sense of humor that prevails. With ESPN, it’s more like a pat-you-on-the-back kind of comedy. I mean, they’ll all get on each other a little bit, but it’s never mean-spirited.” – Frank Caliendo
