Kawhi Leonard Success Lessons

1. Our Greatest Accomplishments Are Often Proceeded By Great Failure

“Practice habits were crucial to my development in basketball. I didn’t play against the toughest competition in high school, but one reason I was able to do well in college was that I mastered the fundamentals. You’ve got to have them down before you can even think about playing.” – Larry Bird

“Leadership is diving for a loose ball, getting the crowd involved, getting other players involved. It’s being able to take it as well as dish it out. That’s the only way you’re going to get respect from the players.” – Larry Bird

“A winner is someone who recognizes his God-given talents, works his tail off to develop them into skills and uses these skills to accomplish his goals.” – Larry Bird

“Leadership is getting players to believe in you. If you tell a teammate you’re ready to play as tough as you’re able to, you’d better go out there and do it. Players will see right through a phony. And they can tell when you’re not giving it all you’ve got.” – Larry Bird

3 Life Lessons from Larry Bird

Now that you know all about Larry Bird’s net worth, and how he achieved success; let’s take a look at some of the lessons we can learn from him:

1. Do The Important Thing

Focus on one thing at a time. Crush it. Then move on to the next thing. Ideally, before beginning your work in the morning, take 10 minutes to review the ONE most important thing you need to do today.

2. Look At What’s Real

When you find yourself giving too much importance to something, just bust it down to what it really is, rather than romanticizing it into something it isn’t.

As of July 2024, Charles Barkley’s net worth is estimated to be $60 Million.

Charles Wade Barkley is an American retired professional basketball player who is currently an analyst on Inside the NBA.

He established himself as one of the NBA most dominant power forwards. Barkley was drafted as a junior by the Philadelphia 76ers with the 5th of the 1984 NBA Draft.

Early Life

Charles Wade Barkley was born on the 20th of February, 1963, in Leeds, Alabama.

Barkley attended Leeds High School. He failed to make the varsity team and was named as a reserve.

However, during the summer Barkley grew to 6 ft 4 in (1.93 m) and earned a starting position on the varsity as a senior.

Barkley garnered no attention from college scouts until the state high school semifinals, where he scored 26 points against Alabama’s most highly recruited player, Bobby Lee Hurt.

Charles Barkley's Career

In 1984, Charles Barkley was drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers as the fifth overall pick, with Hakeem Olajuwon being the first overall pick.

Despite being shorter than the average power forward, he became one of the NBA’s top scorers and rebounders by using his muscle and tenacity.

Dream Team Domination And Winning Olympic Gold

In 1985, Barkley was included in the NBA All-Rookie First Team, along with Michael Jordan, who was also named to the team.

Following his first rebounding championship in 1986–1987, Barkley led the NBA in rebounding average and was selected MVP of the NBA All-Star Game.

He won gold at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics as a member of the ” Dream Team, ” which also included teammates Larry Bird and Michael Jordan. To top it off, Charles won the NBA MVP award while playing for the Phoenix Suns, beating Michael Jordan for the award.

In 1993, he led the Phoenix Suns to the NBA Finals, where he competed against Michael Jordan, who later moved to the Chicago Bulls.

At the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, he demonstrated his basketball skills by winning another gold medal with teammates Shaquille O’Neal and Scottie Pippen.

After his gold medal win, he was traded to the Houston Rockets in the 1996-97 season, joining Hakeem Olajuwon and Clyde Drexler.

A Fiery Start And A Fitting Farewell

Barkley was suspended during the inaugural season for assaulting Charles Oakley, who is also known for his physical and aggressive style of play.

Charles displayed his ability to grab rebounds when he recorded a career-high 33 rebounds in a game against the Rockets while serving a suspension. During that season, he battled multiple injuries and suspensions during the 1996-97 season, similar to other tough players like Allen Iverson and Derrick Rose.

Even though he persevered despite his ailments, the Utah Jazz, led by Karl Malone and John Stockton, ultimately eliminated him.

Barkley became the second player alongside Wilt Chamberlain to achieve 23,000 Points, 12,000 Rebounds, and 4,000 assists, and at the same time, announced his retirement.

He returned from injury to play one last game and scored a memorable basket, which was inspired by Magic Johnson during his comeback game.

From Hall Of Famer To Media Mogul

Charles was re-inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2006 alongside Dominique Wilkins, having previously been a member of the Dream Team.

Additionally, he was named to the NBA’s All-Interview Team for 13 consecutive seasons and is known for his rivalry and friendship with Shaquille O’Neal. He is also known for on—and off-court fights and controversial statements, often being compared to Dennis Rodman in terms of contentious behavior.

Charles famously declared that sports figures should not be considered role models, a sentiment echoed by fellow athletes Muhammad Ali and Michael Jordan.

He has received multiple honors during his career, including four Sports Emmy Awards for his analysis of the NBA and for writing multiple books.

Along with being inaugurated into the Phoenix Suns’ Ring of Honor with Steve Nash, he was named to the NBA’s 50th and 75th Anniversary Teams.
