Introduction

Mauricio Rua is a Brazilian mixed martial artist who has been with the UFC since 2007 and is the promotion’s former light heavyweight division champion.

Prior to joining the UFC, Rua was a member of PRIDE where he won the 2005 Middleweight Grand Prix Championship.

Mauricio Rua’s net worth is estimated to be $6.5 Million.

Quick Facts

  • Rua began practicing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in his hometown at just six years old.
  • His older brother Murilo training him helped both Ruas get into professional mixed martial arts.
  • In 2002, Rua made his professional MMA debut with a win over Rafael Freitas.
  • The next year, he joined PRIDE and lost just one match with the promotion.
  • Rua made his UFC debut in 2007 and has been with the company ever since.

Early Life

Mauricio Milani Rua was born 25 November 1981 in Curitiba, Brazil and raised in the city where his father was a businessman.

Rua and his brother trained hard as children, learning Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, and more as they honed their martial arts skills.

He went straight into more hardcore matches in early adulthood, making his professional debut in 2002 in vale tudo events.

Rua won his first three matches, and then competed at IFC: Global Domination before going with the more traditional PRIDE promotion in 2003.

Career

During his time with PRIDE from 2003 to 2007, Mauricio Rua won all but one of his matches as he defeated the likes of Quinton Jackson, Alistair Overeem, and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira.

In 2007, Rua made the jump to UFC, but lost his debut to Forrest Griffin before bouncing back with wins over Chuck Liddell and Mark Coleman.

Rua took on some of the biggest names in the UFC with mixed results as he fought Chael Sonnen, Brandon Vera, and many more.

He became the UFC Light Heavyweight Champion by defeating Lyoto Machida in 2010 before losing the title to Jon Jones in his next fight.

Overall, Rua has a career record of 27 wins and 13 losses, fighting just one match since 2020 (a loss to Ovince Saint Preux).

Career Earnings

Since he was in the title scene for so long, Mauricio Rua was earning himself some large paydays with the UFC.

At one point, he was among the highest-paid members of the light heavyweight division, clearing six figures per fight.

Here’s an estimated overview of Mauricio Rua’s career earnings:

  • 2013 – $470,000
  • 2014 – $410,000
  • 2015 – $310,000
  • 2016 – $270,000

  • 2020 – $515,000
  • 2021 – $150,000
  • 2022 – $220,000

Though his schedule has slowed down considerably, Rua has said that he’s not ready for full retirement just yet.

He’s attempting to join the likes of Anderson Silva and Daniel Cormier as the oldest champions in UFC history.

Net Worth Annually

Mauricio Rua is among the richest MMA fighters in the world, though he isn’t at the top of the list.

While he has put together a great career, Rua only had a couple of title matches that hampered his overall net worth.

Here’s a breakdown of Mauricio Rua’s annual net worth:

  • 2013 – $2.2 Million
  • 2014 – $2.5 Million
  • 2015 – $2.7 Million
  • 2016 – $2.9 Million
  • 2017 – $3.1 Million
  • 2018 – $3.5 Million
  • 2019 – $3.6 Million
  • 2020 – $4 Million
  • 2021 – $4.1 Million
  • 2022 – $4.3 Million
  • 2023 – $6.5 Million

Certainly, Rua’s net worth is nothing to scoff at as he’s earned millions in the octagon and is one of the more popular fighters.

Had he been able to cash in on title opportunities, though, Rua’s net worth could be among the top for all MMA fighters.

Personal Life

Prior to becoming a mixed martial artist, Rua made ends meet by starting a modeling career and it continued to be his backup job for years.

In the early 2000s, Rua started a relationship with Renata Ribeiro, with the two getting married in September 2007.

Along the way, the couple has had one daughter named Maria Eduarda who was born in January 2010.

Rua is active on social media with an official Twitter account and official Instagram account that is updated regularly.

Awards & Achievements

Mauricio Rua started earning awards before he even made it to the UFC, and then bolstered his resume when he got there.

Between his time with Ultimate Fighting Championship and PRIDE, Rua has a long list of accomplishments.

Here are Mauricio Rua’s top career awards and achievements:

  • Winner of the 2005 PRIDE Middleweight Grand Prix Championship.
  • Won a total of eight post-fight bonuses in the UFC, including four Fight of the Night rewards.

  • The bout with Dan Henderson was given the 2011 Fight of the Year.
  • Inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2018 for that same fight against Henderson at UFC 139.

Rua hopes to add another title to his already impressive resume before retiring from competition.

As a member of the UFC Hall of Fame already, Rua is already going to be remembered forever even if he doesn’t get another title shot.

How Does Mauricio Rua Spend His Money?

Though he is among the richest MMA fighters, you might not be able to tell as Mauricio Rua isn’t a big spender.

Rua skips out on some of the most expensive cars in the world and most expensive sneakers ever made in lieu of saving his money.

After he married Renata Ribeiro, the two moved into a modest home in Brazil and still lives in the city where he was born.

Rua does give money to charity, donating to local hospitals in Brazil that focus on helping children.

Highlights

Early in his career, Mauricio Rua was well on his way to winning his first tournament but lost in the semifinals.

Instead of giving up, he trained harder and went on a winning streak that was filled with milestone victories.

Here are some of the best highlights of Mauricio Rua’s career:

  • Won his professional MMA debut in 2002 with a knockout victory over Rafael Freitas.
  • Made his UFC debut against Forrest Griffin in 2007 after starting his career 16-2.
  • Defeated Lyoto Machida in 2010 for the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship before Jon Jones claimed the title.
  • Earned his 25th career victory in March 2017 by defeating Gian Villante via knockout.
  • Won his first fight in the United Arab Emirates, defeating Antonio Rogerio Nogueira in 2020.

Rua’s time with PRIDE was already Hall of Fame worthy, and he took his momentum into the UFC.

While there, Rua became one of the top fighters of the light heavyweight division and continued padding his resume.

Summary

Mauricio Rua has had one of the finest UFC careers in the light heavyweight division and won a championship in the process.

Some of his fights have been ranked among the greatest of all time, and he was also one of the most popular fighters.

Now in his 40s, Rua’s schedule has slowed down significantly, but his earnings haven’t as he adds to his net worth.

Mauricio Rua’s net worth is estimated to be $6.5 Million.

2017Chael Sonnen$300,000
2018Chuck Liddell$200,000
Total Career Earnings:$10,430,000

While we have some information regarding Tito Ortiz’s fight earnings from both the UFC and Bellator, there are a few varying factors worth mentioning. From our research, we found a total of $10.43 million in fight purses; however, there are obviously many fights missing from the table, as well as additional PPV and sponsor revenues.

Chuck Liddell Fight Earnings

The earliest recorded fight purse of Ortiz’s career was $3.2 million in 2006 for his second bout against Chuck Liddell in the UFC. This figure included his earnings for the PPV revenues. For their third fight later that year, he earned a guaranteed $210,000 to show up, but his earnings from the PPV are unknown. Finally, for their 2018 Bellator fight, he reportedly received $200,000. While this adds up to just $3.61 million, he likely earned more from additional sources.

Additional Fight Earnings

Thanks to a lawsuit filed against the UFC in 2023, many of Tito Ortiz’s fight earnings were made public. Most of which were related to his fights in 2011 and 2012. This included $820,000 against Ryan Bader, $1.2 million against Rashad Evans, a $1.75 million payday against Antonio Nogueira, and $2.5 million for his 2012 bout against Forrest Griffin. In addition, he reportedly earned $300,000 for his 2017 Bellator bout against Chael Sonnen.

Real Estate

In October 2008, Tito Ortiz paid $3.25 million for a 3,887-square-foot, four-bedroom, four-bathroom home in Huntington Beach, California. The property included a home office, wine cellar, and private boat dock with access to the bay.

In September 2022, Ortiz relisted the property on the market with an asking price of $4.8 million. A month later, the price was reduced to $4.5 million, and it sold in November for just $4 million. Although that should represent a $750,000 gross profit, he had been paying between $30,000 and $42,000 in annual property taxes. After also considering agent fees, he likely profited somewhere between $100,000 and $200,000 from the sale.

Summary

Despite the fact that his parents got divorced and they were on drugs, Ortiz had come a long way, which was unexpected of him. Since early childhood, he has been passionate about wrestling and has developed a keen interest in the sport. In school, he began pursuing his favorite sport, wrestling, and even after completing his graduation, he went on to win the state-level championship.

He didn’t give up even after his mother kicked him out of his home when he was eighteen. A coach advised him to complete his studies and also pursue wrestling as a career. Having won several championships, he is now a successful actor, wrestler, and businessman.

With Tito Ortiz’s net worth being $20 Million in 2021, he inspires young people, so that they do not lose their track in life.

He is an optimistic person who has never given up on his life and is now leading a happy family life with his girlfriend and three strong boys.

Introduction

Jon Jones is an American professional MMA fighter with an estimated net worth of $3 Million.

Jones is the current UFC heavyweight champion, with many regarding him as the most outstanding mixed martial arts fighter of all time. While his career has been highly controversial, suffering setbacks from legal issues and suspensions for banned substance use, his only loss in the cage was due to a disqualification from an illegal elbow strike.

Jon was the most dominant UFC light heavyweight champion of all time, winning fourteen title fights over ten years. Despite this, he has never been inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame due to his numerous legal issues and controversies.

Before Wealth & Fame

Growing up in New York, Jon Jones came from an athletically gifted family. His two brothers, Arthur and Chandler, are both professional NFL players. Jon was the smallest of the Jones brothers, and whilst he played football in high school, wrestling was where he shone the most. He was an NJCAA national champion in college, but later dropped out to pursue a career in mixed martial arts.

While pursuing his MMA career, Jones worked as a bouncer at Doo-Z’s nightclub in Ithaca, New York, and briefly as a high school janitor.

UFC Career

In 2008, at the age of 21, Jon Jones was signed to the UFC. He won his first two fights against Andre Gusmao and Stephan Bonnar by unanimous decision. After submitting Jake O’Brien in his third UFC fight, Jones then fought Matt Hamill, where he suffered his only career loss due to disqualification for an illegal elbow.

From 2010 onwards, Jones never lost a fight and officially won the UFC light-heavyweight championship in 2011 against Mauricio Shogun Rua. He defended the light-heavyweight belt numerous times against legends such as Rampage Jackson, Lyoto Machida, Rashad Evans, Vitor Belfort, and Chael Sonnen.

Stripped of the Belt

In 2015, after winning his first fight against Daniel Cormier, Jones was involved in a hit-and-run incident in Albuquerque, New Mexico, injuring a pregnant woman and fleeing the scene. The UFC stripped him of the light-heavyweight title and suspended him indefinitely.

He won his first fight back in the UFC in April 2016 against Ovince Saint Preux for the interim light-heavyweight belt. However, he was stripped of the belt once again after testing positive for clomiphene and letrozole ahead of his scheduled rematch with Daniel Cormier. A year later, Jones won the second fight against Cormier, but the decision was later overturned due to testing positive for Turinabol. This would be the third time the UFC stripped Jones of his belt.

In 2018, Jones reclaimed the belt after beating Alexander Gustafsson for a second time. He successfully defended the belt three times against Anthony Smith, Thiago Santos, and Dominick Reyes before vacating the belt in 2020 due to pay disputes with UFC President Dana White.

Heavyweight Division

In 2023, Jones returned to the sport, moving up a weight class to submit Ciryl Gane in the first round at UFC 285 and win the UFC heavyweight championship. He recently defended the belt in November 2024 against Stipe Miocic at UFC 309.

2014Chael Sonnen$2,570,000

Total Career Earnings:$15,321,219

Jon Jones has been actively competing in the UFC for almost twenty years, during which time the fighter pay structure has undergone numerous changes. The UFC is also known for not disclosing individual fighter pay unless the state where the event occurred requires public disclosure. However, in recent years, a class action lawsuit has been filed against the company, which has led to the public disclosure of the salaries of several top fighters. This includes that of Ronda Rousey, Conor McGregor, and Jon Jones.

According to the documents, in 2012, Jones earned $2.28 million for defeating Rashad Evans and $1.57 million for submitting Vitor Belfort. The following year, he reportedly earned $2.75 million from his bout with Chael Sonnen and $1.17 million for defeating Alexander Gustafsson. In 2014, he earned $1.24 million for beating Glover Teixeira. A year later, for his first fight with DC, he was paid approximately $3.64 million, the highest salary of his career to date. Finally, he received $2.68 million in 2016 for defeating Ovince St. Preux.

This amounts to approximately $15.3 million in total, but does leave a lot to the imagination. Since the St. Preux fight, Jones has fought seven more times for the UFC, likely earning significantly higher sums.

Real Estate

In March 2012, Jones paid $644,500 for a 4,406-square-foot, four-bedroom home in Ithaca, New York. The property featured an oversized three-car garage, which Jones used as a home gym. In November 2016, he listed the house for sale at $750,000, which sold in May of the following year for $713,000.

What is Ronda Rousey’s net worth?

Net Worth:$14 Million
Age:38
Born:February 1, 1987
Gender:Female
Height:1.68 m (5 ft 6 in)
Country of Origin:United States of America

Introduction

Ronda Rousey is an American former professional MMA fighter, judoka, and actress with an estimated net worth of $14 Million.

In a six-year professional mixed martial arts career, Ronda Rousey fought 14 times and retired with a record of 12-2-0. She fought eight times in the UFC, winning six fights by first-round armbar submission, earning approximately $17.8 million, which translates to an average of $2.225 million per fight.

Early Career

Rousey first began training in Judo at the age of 11, and her mother taught her. At the age of 17, Ronda qualified for the 2004 Olympic Games, where she became the youngest judoka to compete. The same year, she won a gold medal at the World Junior Judo Championships. Rousey went on to win many more medals in the sport of judo, but at 21 years old, she quit the sport to pursue MMA as her new career. While primarily training in mixed martial arts, she held various jobs, including waitressing and bartending.

MMA Career

When Ronda Rousey first began competing as an MMA fighter, the female divisions of such competitions were in their very early stages. As such, the competition was of a much lower standard than it is today. This was very similar to the men’s divisions in the early 2000s, when people were still experimenting with various fighting styles.

Rousey possessed a skill set that few other women did at the time, being a former judo Olympian. As it turned out, this would translate perfectly into mixed martial arts. Ronda began competing in the Strikeforce organization and won all four of her fights by armbar submission in the first round.

In 2012, the UFC acquired Strikeforce, bringing many of its top talents with it, and established the UFC female bantamweight division. Since Rousey was the Strikeforce champion at the time, her first fight in the UFC was for the bantamweight belt against Liz Carmouche. Naturally, she got the job done with her gold standard first-round armbar submission and became the UFC’s first female bantamweight champion.

Between 2013 and 2015, Rousey defended her title successfully on five separate occasions, three of which were over in under 30 seconds. However, Rousey had become an icon in female mixed martial arts, and in the mid-2010s, talented female competitors were beginning to make their way into the UFC’s ranks.

The first was Holly Holm, who fought Ronda in November 2015, winning by a head kick knockout. Next, in December 2016, came Amanda Nunes, known for her impressive striking and raw power. Nunes knocked out Rousey in just 48 seconds of the first round, showcasing just how much the level of competition had increased in a few years.

2016Amanda Nunes$4,879,766
Total Career Earnings:$17,784,198

As part of a class-action lawsuit against the UFC, several paychecks of the organization’s star talent were made public, including those of Conor McGregor, Jon Jones, and Ronda Rousey. In fact, in Rousey’s case, every single one of her UFC fight earnings was revealed. Unfortunately, no specifics were revealed regarding the pay structure, but it would likely have been a combination of pay-to-show, pay-to-win, and PPV shares.

For her first fight in the UFC, she earned approximately $574,720 for defeating Liz Carmouche. This was followed by $1.82 million for defeating Miesha Tate for a second time. In 2014, she fought twice, earning $870,969 for beating Sara McMann and $1.06 million for defeating Alexis Davis.

With three fights in 2015, Rousey earned $1.46 million against Cat Zingano and $2.64 million for her final UFC victory against Bethe Correia. For her loss to Holly Holm, she earned an estimated $4.5 million. For her final UFC bout, against Nunes, she earned $4.88 million. This brings her total UFC earnings to approximately $17.78 million.

Real Estate

In June 2014, Rousey paid $1.42 million for an 868-square-foot, single-story home in Venice, California. She recently listed the property for sale in August 2024, with an asking price of $1.9 million. In September, the price was reduced to $1.825 million, and the property is still for sale.
