Early Life
Simu Liu was born April 19, 1989, in Harbin, Heilongjiang, China, to Zhenning and Zheng Liu.
Growing up, Simu was raised by his grandparents in China until he was five and his parents immigrated to Canada, where they lived in Mississauga, Ontario.
Later in his memoir, We Were Dreamers, Liu talked about his parent’s “tiger parenting” style, which put incredible pressure on him as a child.
He was pushed to constantly be better, and his ‘homework’ consisted of both school work and reading the biographies of scientists, and studying algebra that his parents required him to do.
Liu attended the University of Toronto Schools for high school and ended up studying business administration at the Ivey Business School at the University of Western Ontario.
After school, he worked as an accountant for a brief period before exploring opportunities as an actor and stuntman that eventually led him to Hollywood.
Career
Simu Liu began his acting career working as a stuntman and extra in films such as Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim in 2012. During this time, he also appeared as a stuntman in Sick: Survive the Night and Heroes Reborn.
In 2015, he was cast in his first significant reoccurring role, appearing as a regular on the drama series Blood and Water.
The same year, he was cast in his first lead role, portraying Jung Kim in Kim’s Convenience, and he remained on the show until its conclusion in 2021.
Liu was cast in another reoccurring role in 2016, appearing in the NBC prequel show Taken, based on the Liam Neeson film series of the same name.
However, his biggest breakthrough came in 2019, when he was announced to be playing the character of Shang-Chi in the MCU’s upcoming film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, the first in the franchise with an Asian-led cast.
Following the success of this film, a sequel was announced, cementing Liu’s place as a mainstay in the Marvel Universe.
Liu was also cast as the voice actor for the lead character in the Netflix anime film Bright: Samurai Soul, which premiered in 2021.
He is also starring in Barbie and Hello Stranger, films set to release in 2023, as well as Arthur the King, One True Love, and Atlas, which currently have no estimated release date.
Simu Liu’s Career Earnings
He may not be as wealthy as Chris Evans or Scarlett Johansson, but Simu Liu has benefited from a significant income boost since joining the MCU.
It was estimated that Liu earned $6 million for his role as Shang-Chi, which boosted his net worth significantly.
Unfortunately, we don’t know his annual income from the years prior to his introduction to the Marvel Universe, but we do know that a sequel to Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings was confirmed in 2021.
This means that we can expect to see Liu’s net worth increase further as he returns to his highest-paying role.
We also know that he has signed a multi-year contract with Marvel, so it is likely that the second Shang-Chi movie will not be his last.
Personal Life
Simu Liu is currently in a relationship with Allison Hsu, a digital marketing manager at Interscope Records.
Previously, he had been romantically linked to Jade Bender, and the couple had attended a few red carpets together before breaking up.
Liu is active on his official Instagram account, where he posts photos of his downtime, events he attends, and projects he’s worked on.

Television Career
Jennifer Aniston began her acting career by working in Off-Broadway shows like For Dear Life and Dancing on Checker’s Grave. However, she could not earn enough money from her acting career, so to support herself, she took on various part-time jobs, such as waitressing. Before landing her breakthrough role on Friends, Aniston starred in various TV shows in the early 1990s, including 13 episodes of Ferris Bueller, in which she played Jeannie Bueller. She also appeared in 7 episodes of Molloy, 20 episodes of The Edge, and 10 episodes of Muddling Through.
In 1994, Jennifer began portraying Rachel Green in the sitcom Friends, working alongside fellow actors Matthew Perry, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc, Courteney Cox, and Lisa Kudrow. The show became an instant success, and before long, the aforementioned cast members were some of the highest-paid actors on television. The show aired for ten seasons and 235 episodes from 1994 to 2004. It’s still being watched and discovered on streaming platforms by people who weren’t even born when it initially aired.
Film Career
The transition from television to film was much more complicated at the time. Aniston later became known as one of the most successful actresses who made that transition. Some of her initial high-profile film roles included working with actors Jim Carrey and Ben Stiller on Bruce Almighty (2003) and Along Came Polly (2004).
Throughout the late 2000s, Aniston collaborated with numerous well-known actors in films such as The Break-Up (2006), Marley & Me (2008), The Bounty Hunter (2010), Just Go with It (2011), and Horrible Bosses (2011). The roles solidified her transition into the Hollywood film industry, allowing her to work with actors such as Adam Sandler, Jason Bateman, Gerard Butler, Vince Vaughn, and Owen Wilson.
Besides acting in films, Aniston has produced multiple commercials and become a brand ambassador for many well-known companies. Aniston also founded a film production company named Plan B Entertainment.
Friends Salary
For the first season of Friends, the six lead actors each received $22,500 per episode, which is roughly $47,700 today if adjusted for inflation. Aniston earned $540,000 for season one and then received an increase to $40,000 per episode, earning her $960,000 for season two.
The actors banded together throughout the show’s filming, ensuring they received equal pay. Their salary increased to $75,000 per episode for Season Three, $85,000 for Season Four, $100,000 for Season Five, and $125,000 for Season Six. During that time, Aniston earned $9.5 million.
Ahead of season seven, the cast members negotiated an enormous pay bump to $750,000 per episode, plus syndication royalties. Aniston earned $18 million apiece from seasons seven and eight before receiving another bump to $1 million per episode for seasons nine and ten. She earned $24 million for season nine and $18 million for season ten, which pushed Aniston’s total salary from Friends up to $89 million.
Syndication Royalties
When Friends officially ended, the actors negotiated a contract that granted them 2% of the profits from syndication and future reruns. In 2015, USA Today published an article stating that Warner Bros. was earning $1 billion annually from syndication revenue. If true, Aniston would have been earning $20 million yearly from royalties.
However, in 2021, Forbes released different estimates, suggesting that Friends had generated an estimated $1.4 billion in revenue since its debut in 1994. This calculation would have resulted in Aniston’s lifetime royalty income being around $47 million.

After gaining notoriety from Friends in the 1990s, Jennifer Aniston began appearing in films more frequently. Having already earned a reputation in Hollywood, her upfront salary for early film projects was already in the millions. Some of Aniston’s earlier paychecks include $2 million for Picture Perfect, $6.5 million for The Object of My Affection, and $3 million for Rock Star.
The movie that jump-started the TV star’s transition was Bruce Almighty (2003), where she starred alongside Jim Carrey. Aniston earned an upfront salary of $9 million from the film, as well as a percentage of the backend, which increased her total earnings to $20 million. This would become a common pay structure for her as her film career progressed. In fact, backend deals account for at least $111 million of Aniston’s total film earnings.
Aniston’s 2004 role in Along Came Polly followed a similar suit, earning her $9 million upfront and an additional $10 million in backend compensation. For the majority of the 2000s and early 2010s, Jennifer’s base salary consistently ranged between $8 million and $9 million per film. This includes films such as Derailed, Rumor Has It…, Marley & Me, Love Happens, The Bounty Hunter, and The Switch.
Peak Film Earnings
While Bruce Almighty and Along Came Polly both earned Aniston in the ballpark of $20 million, they are far from her highest-film paydays. She also earned $9 million upfront for the iconic 2006 film, The Break-Up, starring alongside Vince Vaughn. However, after securing an additional $19 million on the back end, her total earnings amounted to $28 million.
In 2011, Aniston earned a combined $41 million from two films: Just Go with It and Horrible Bosses, of which $20 million was thanks to backend points. Two years later, she earned an impressive $26 million from We’re the Millers, despite accepting just $5 million upfront.
Undoubtedly, Aniston’s most lucrative paydays were generated from the Murder Mystery franchise. The first instalment in 2019 earned her an estimated $45 million, including upfront salary and backend earnings. Its sequel, released in 2023, reportedly secured her a $25 million base paycheck, but she also earned additional money from her producer fee and backend points. It’s unclear exactly how much she banked in total, but the franchise accounts for at least $70 million of her earnings.
Highest-Grossing Movies
While Friends undoubtedly accounts for a large chunk of Aniston’s career earnings, she’s also starred in many box-office hits. She is perhaps one of the most accomplished actors transitioning from television to the film industry. Aniston’s highest-grossing film was 2003’s Bruce Almighty, which grossed $485 million globally against a budget of $81 million. It’s also the oldest movie within her top ten.
Aniston’s other notable box office successes include We’re the Millers, which grossed $270 million on a $37 million budget, and Marley & Me, which earned $256 million. Here’s a complete list of Jennifer Aniston’s ten highest-grossing movies:

Fast & Furious Salary
Diesel’s salary history regarding Fast & Furious has a few holes; his earnings from the fourth and sixth films are unknown. However, let’s discuss how much he earned from the other six he starred in, which had the most significant impact on his wealth.
Vin earned $2 million to star in the original 2001 film, The Fast and the Furious. Although he was reportedly offered between $20 million and $25 million for the sequel, 2 Fast 2 Furious, Diesel turned it down. He stated that producing a sequel would compromise the film’s ability to become a classic.
Vin has also worked as a producer on all the Fast & Furious movies since the fourth installment, which has boosted his overall earnings from the franchise. In 2011, he earned $15 million from Fast Five, which includes his producer fee.
Many low-quality sources reported his earnings from Furious 7 as $47 million, which would be incorrect. They lifted this figure from Forbes’ 2015 list of highest-paid actors; however, this doesn’t just consider Furious 7 earnings. Diesel had also voiced Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy and starred in The Last Witch Hunter that year.
In 2017, upon the release of The Fate of the Furious, Forbes again listed him among the highest-paid actors, this time with $54.5 million in earnings. That particular year, he also starred in and produced xXx: Return of Sander Cage, contributing to his overall earnings. Diesel likely earned a minimum of $20 million per film for F9 and Fast X.
Other Notable Film Salaries
In the earlier years of his career, Diesel earned just $100,000 for acting in Saving Private Ryan. His first leading roles outside Fast & Furious began paying him multiple seven-figures, including $10 million for xXx, $2.5 million for A Man Apart, and $11.5 million for The Chronicles of Riddick.
Highest-Grossing Movies
Sure, he only had one line, spoken repeatedly in multiple languages, but Diesel’s role as Groot still helped gross the MCU over $8 billion at the box office. Avengers: Endgame grossed $2.8 billion worldwide, becoming the second-highest-grossing film of all time, behind none other than Avatar.
The other franchise that helped Diesel become one of the highest-grossing actors is Fast & Furious. Furious 7 performed better than any other movie in the series, grossing $1.52 billion globally. The Fate of the Furious was the only other F&F movie to gross over $1 billion.
The Fast & Furious franchise has grossed over $6.5 billion, but the earlier movies don’t make it into Vin’s top ten. Fast & Furious 6 is the earliest movie to feature in Diesel’s ten highest-grossing, reaching $789 million at the box office in 2013.
Here is a complete list of Vin Diesel’s ten highest-grossing films:
- Avengers: Endgame – $2.8 Billion (2019)
- Avengers: Infinity War – $2.05 Billion (2018)
- Furious 7 – $1.52 Billion (2015)
- The Fate of the Furious – $1.24 Billion (2017)
- Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 – $864 Million (2017)
- Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 – $846 Million (2023)
- Fast & Furious 6 – $789 Million (2013)
- Guardians of the Galaxy – $773 Million (2014)
- Thor: Love and Thunder – $761 Million (2022)
- F9: The Fast Saga – $726 Million (2021)
Real Estate
In June 2000, Vin Diesel paid $810,000 for a 2,111-square-foot, three-bedroom, three-bathroom home in Los Angeles, California. There’s no record of a sale taking place since then, which likely means he still owns the property.
In October 2001, just after the release of Fast & Furious, Diesel reportedly paid $2.25 million for a 3,343-square-foot, four-bedroom home in Beverly Hills, California, situated on 2.14 acres of land. Not much else is known about the property, but according to sale records, he still owns the house, which now has an estimated value of $4.98 million.
At one point, Diesel was reportedly eying up an 11,000-square-foot, seven-bedroom, nine-bathroom mansion in Sandy Springs, Georgia, for $3.3 million. The property features a 12-person dining room, a garage, a bar, an elevator, four patios, and a full gym. However, it was presumed to be a rental while filming The Fast and the Furious 7, and nothing was confirmed.
Additional Expenditure
As you can probably anticipate, Vin Diesel has a fantastic car collection. For starters, he has a rare 1974 Plymouth Barracuda. He also has a 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, which is one of the most iconic cars in U.S. history. He paid $200.000 for this car. His most exotic and powerful car is the 2014 Lykan Hypersport, which costs $3.4 million.
Van Diesel owns a 1,100-square-foot trailer worth $1.1 million. The trailer features a high-tech media room, a kids’ playroom, two lounge areas, a kitchen, and bathrooms.

- Gave $14 million in additional compensation for Gravity to his friends
- Profited $233.3 million from the sale of Casamigos Tequila
- Tomorrowland lost $140 million but earned Clooney $25 million
Net Worth History
When we first discussed George Clooney’s worth in 2019, it was estimated to be $450 million. The most significant change to his net worth occurred two years prior, when he received $233.3 million for the sale of Casamigo Tequila.
Additionally, his wealth stems from acting in and producing some of the highest-grossing Hollywood movies over the past forty years. In 2025, Clooney’s net worth is estimated to be $500 Million.
Acting Career
Before his success at the box office, Clooney studied broadcast journalism at the University of Cincinnati but later dropped out. He also worked various odd jobs, including cutting tobacco for $3.30 per hour, selling insurance door-to-door, stocking shelves, and doing construction work.
At 17, he landed his first paying acting gig as an extra in the 1978 film Centennial. In the mid-80s, Clooney landed a significant role in the CBS sitcom E/R, which is not to be confused with his later work as Doug Ross in ER.
The series only lasted for two seasons, with Clooney appearing in just eight episodes, but it was enough to land him minor roles in other TV series such as Crazy Like a Fox, Hotel, Throb, and, more importantly, The Facts of Life. From 1985 to 1987, Clooney appeared in 17 episodes of The Facts of Life.
Breakthrough Acting Roles (1994-2000)
His breakthrough role came in 1994 when he landed the role of Doug Ross in the Drama series ER. Clooney starred in 107 episodes between 1994 and 2000, with reports stating his salary was $100,000 per episode. However, a 1998 article from The Independent indicates that the figures were in British pounds sterling, which could have equaled approximately $166,000 per episode.
If we take the first figure as gospel, Clooney would have earned $10.7 million from his work on the series. He also returned as a guest star for one episode in 2009; however, his salary for that episode hasn’t been disclosed. The popularity Clooney gained from starring in ER earned him roles in some of his highest-grossing movies to date, including One Fine Day (2006), The Peacemaker (1997), Batman & Robin (1997), and The Perfect Storm (2000).
Ocean’s Franchise (2001-2007)
While 2013’s Gravity remains Clooney’s highest-grossing movie, all three Ocean’s Franchise films he starred in have grossed more than $200 million worldwide. Clooney starred in 2001’s Ocean’s Eleven alongside Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, and Julia Roberts. The film grossed over $450 million worldwide, becoming the fifth highest-grossing movie of the year. It remains on the list as Clooney’s second-highest-grossing film.
Ocean’s Twelve, released in 2004, featured the same co-stars and grossed $362.7 million worldwide. George starred in Ocean’s Thirteen in 2007, which, although not as popular as the previous installments, still grossed $311.3 million at the box office. Reports confirmed he earned $35 million for the first and third films combined, plus an estimated $15 million for Ocean’s Twelve. This brings his total earnings from the franchise up to $50 million.

We researched Clooney’s salaries for almost twenty of his movies, as well as his salary for ER. As discussed earlier, reports state that Clooney earned $100,000 per episode for ER. If we examine the episodes in which he appeared, we can calculate his earnings per season.
For the first season of ER, Clooney starred in 25 episodes, earning $2.5 million. He appeared in 22 episodes across seasons 2, 3, and 4, earning $2.2 million per season. Finally, he starred in 15 episodes of season 5, earning $1.5 million.
In the 1990s, Clooney’s highest film salaries included $10 million apiece for Batman & Robin and Out of Sight. He also earned $5 million for Three Kings, $3 million for The Peacemaker, and $3 million for One Fine Day.
Ocean’s Franchise Salary
One of Clooney’s most significant additions to his salary and overall net worth was his recurring role in three of the seven Ocean’s franchise films. In 2001, he earned $20 million for starring in Ocean’s Eleven. His salary for Ocean’s Twelve was never publicly disclosed but is estimated to be between $15 million and $20 million. In 2007, he earned $15 million for Ocean’s Thirteen.
Gravity & Tomorrowland Earnings
For 2013’s Gravity, Clooney earned a $20 million upfront salary but received an additional $14 million in back-end compensation. He gave the extra $14 million to 14 of his longtime friends who helped him on his journey to success. For comparison, co-star Sandra Bullock earned $70 million from the movie.
Tomorrowland was one of Disney’s most historical movie flops, losing the company over $140 million but generating $25 million for Clooney. This is his second-highest recorded film salary to date.
Casamigos Tequila Sale
In 2013, George Clooney partnered with Mike Meldman and former model Rande Gerber to launch the Casamigos tequila brand. However, it was initially done just for their own enjoyment, to be shared with friends and family. When they began receiving requests for over 1,000 bottles per year, they decided to license the brand and sell it to the public.
By 2017, Casamigos had attracted the attention of the British multinational alcoholic beverage company Diageo, which acquired the brand from the trio in a deal valued at $1 billion overall. The agreement was structured with $700 million in the form of an upfront payment, plus an additional $300 million in bonuses if the brand hit specific performance targets within 10 years after the sale.
At the time, this acquisition was among the most lucrative in the spirits industry, and opened the door for numerous other famous names to launch their own alcoholic beverage brands. Gerber, Clooney, and Meldman continue to be involved with Casamigos, and given a three-way split, they likely each earned $233 million upfront, with the potential to earn an additional $100 million each by 2027.
Highest-Grossing Movies
Not only was Gravity responsible for Clooney’s single-highest film salary, but it is also the highest-grossing film of his career. Gravity grossed $773 million globally while costing $100 million to produce. The Ocean’s trilogy also placed in the top half of the list, with Ocean’s Eleven scoring $451 million. Ocean’s Twelve grossed $363 million, and Ocean’s Thirteen took in $311 million.
The oldest film in Clooney’s top ten was Batman & Robin (1997), which grossed $238 million against a $125 million production budget. Other films to make the list include The Perfect Storm ($329 million), Argo ($232 million), and Spy Kids 3: Game Over ($197 million).
Disney’s Tomorrowland also reached the top ten, grossing $209 million. However, the film was a complete box office flop with an inflated production budget of $190 million.
