Golf Career

Tiger Woods' Career

After becoming a professional golfer in 1996, he was immediately offered deals with Nike, Inc., and Titleist, as he had become quite famous because of his collegiate career. These were some of the most lucrative deals in the history of golf.

He won the Masters, his first major tournament, in 1997. He also set the record in the Official World Golf Ranking for the fastest ascent to No. 1.

He had a great start to the new millennium with six consecutive wins in 2000. One of his victories for the year was the U.S. Open, where he broke or equaled nine records, including becoming the youngest golfer to achieve the Career Grand Slam.

The next two seasons were not that great for him. However, his form returned in 2005, and he won six official PGA Tour money events. He closed the 2006 season with 54 wins.

In 2007, his issues with vision became noticeable again (the first laser eye surgery he had was in 1999). In order to fix the problem, Woods decided to undergo another operation – once more with much success.

Around the same time, Tiger started to experience some major problems with his knee. This caused him to undergo knee surgery in April of 2008. He was forced to take a break from the 2008 U.S. Open, but he returned to the competition just two months later.

Despite some difficulties, he managed to win over Rocco Mediate, only to announce two days later that he had to pull out from the rest of the season to continue his treatment, as his knee injury was more serious than previously thought.

Woods himself called this his “greatest ever championship.” Such sentiment was reflected in the viewership of the rest of the season, which dropped significantly after Woods’ departure.

Woods was enthusiastically welcomed back to golf in 2009. He did not disappoint his fans and performed well, winning the 2009 Presidents Cup with an amazing performance. This didn’t go in hand with his private life, though, as near the end of this year, it was revealed that Woods was involved in a cheating scandal.

His sponsors canceled their contracts, and his rankings also fell. For the first time in his career, he could not win a single event. In December of the same year, after receiving a significant backlash, Tiger announced he was taking a break from golf.

In 2011 his dismal performances continued. Woods tied for fourth place at the 2011 Masters but had to miss some stops at that year’s PGA Tour due to his contusion. The turbulences also occurred in Woods’ close team, as around this time, Tiger fired his longtime caddie, Steve Williams. Eventually, he was replaced with Joe LaCava.

In 2012 he did not manage to have significant victories in his competitions – the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship and the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, but he tied for second at The Honda Classic. Still, this turned out to be the lowest final-round score for Woods in his entire PGA Tour career.

The following years in his career were filled with grand comebacks and falling out of form caused by back and knee injuries. His biggest wins in recent years were second place in the 2018 PGA Championship, winning the 2019 Masters, and victory at the 2020 PGA Tour.

In 2021, he had a car accident, but he was able to return to sport at the 2022 Masters Tournament, where he finished in 47th place.

Tiger Woods was officially inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2021.

Kenny Perry Net Worth

What is Kenny Perry’s net worth?

Net Worth:$30 Million

Born:August 10, 1960
Gender:Male
Height:1.88 m (6 ft 2 in)
Country of Origin:United States of America

Introduction

Kenny Perry is an American professional golfer with an estimated net worth of $30 Million.

Since turning pro in 1986, Kenny Perry has played 39 years of professional golf, participating in 651 events and recording 14 wins. He has earned $32.1 million in prize money throughout his career, which equates to approximately $823,670 per year and $49,344 per event.

Perry won multiple PGA tours and, in turn, has made quite a name for himself in the golfing world. Although he hasn’t won any major championships in his career, he is still one of the all-time highest PGA Tour money winners and shows that you don’t have to be the best to make a lot of money from golf.

Before Wealth & Fame

James Kenneth Perry was born August 10, 1960, in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, United States. Ken Perry, Kenny’s father, married Mildred, his mother, and raised their family in Franklin, Kentucky. Despite being born in Elizabethtown, Kenny attended Franklin-Simpson High School and Lone Oak High School when the family relocated to McCracken County.

When he was seven years old, Kenny started playing golf, and it was apparent he had a knack for the game. As he got older and more serious about the sport, Kenny joined the golf team at Lone Oak High School. After leaving school, Kenny enrolled at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green.

PGA Tour Applications

Kenny’s professional career began in 1982, although he was unable to join the PGA Tour on his first two attempts. The first time, he was one stroke away from doing so. The second time, he received a phone call informing him that his wife was giving birth, and he had to leave the qualifying round; however, the third time proved to be the charm.

He borrowed $5,000 from a Franklin businessman, with the caveat that he would donate it to a Lipscomb University scholarship if his attempt to get a PGA Tour card one last time proved successful.

Golf Career

At Q-school, he tied for forty-first place, earning his card with a two-shot advantage. Perry and his sponsor settled on a 5% percentage, and Perry has since kept his promise to Lipscomb by providing a scholarship for citizens of Simpson County, Kentucky.

Unfortunately, Kenny couldn’t catch a break on the tour and was only a spot over the qualification line for many years. He achieved his first victory by winning the Memorial Tournament in Dublin, Ohio, in 1991.

Three years later, he was crowned the best golfer at the New England Classic at Pleasant Valley Country Club in Sutton, Massachusetts, further boosting his fortunes.

In 2003, he won three championships, including his second Memorial Tournament and a victory at the Greater Milwaukee Open, making it one of his greatest years on the tour.

Sadly, the following years were dry, and Kenny didn’t win another match until the 2008 Buick Open, when he snatched victory from Bubba Watson and Woody Austin by one stroke. He maintained his winning ways through 2009, securing additional championships, including the Travelers Championship, the FBR Open, and the John Deere Classic.

Kenny joins the likes of Jack Nicklaus, Phil Mickelson, Nick Faldo, Greg Norman, and Tiger Woods as one of the richest golfers in the world, despite not having the expected win record.

Prize Money

In 2003, Kenny won consecutive tournaments at the Bank of America Colonial and the Memorial Tournament, scoring a career-low third-round 61. He took home the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic title in 1995 with a scorching round, but then faded a little over the next few years.

Here’s an estimated overview of Kenny Perry’s annual income:

  • 2013 – $52,000
  • 2014 – $2.3 million
  • 2015 – $2.2 million
  • 2016 – $1.8 million
  • 2017 – $1.9 million
  • 2018 – $1.5 million
  • 2019 – $1.2 million
  • 2020 – $1.5 million
  • 2021 – $1.3 million
  • 2022 – $1 million

Perry is the winner of 12 career tournaments and appears ninth on the all-time earnings list. He’s won over $26 million as a professional golfer, and many times that when you take into account his endorsement contracts and sponsorships.

Net Worth History

Kenny Perry is a laid-back individual who enjoys chatting with old friends and tends not to hog the limelight. He may be a multi-millionaire, but he’s glad to live in the tiny town of Franklin, where he grew up, and where his grandfather was once the mayor.

Here’s a breakdown of Kenny Perry’s annual net worth:

  • 2013 – $20.5 million
  • 2014 – $20.8 million
  • 2015 – $21.1 million
  • 2016 – $21.5 million
  • 2017 – $22.3 million
  • 2018 – $25 million
  • 2019 – $25.2 million
  • 2020 – $26.1 million
  • 2021 – $28.7 million
  • 2022 – $30 Million

When his kids were growing up, he helped coach their teams when he wasn’t on the Tour. Even now, he continues to offer advice and cover the costs of equipment and training for the high school golf team.

Personal Life

Perry and his wife, Sandy Perry, have three children: Lesslye (Harris), Justin, and Lindsey. His son Justin caddied for his father on several occasions and was a member of the golf team at Western Kentucky University.

After a protracted fight with multiple myeloma, a cancer of the plasma cells in the bone marrow, his mother Mildred passed away on October 1, 2009. She had reached the age of 79 and passed away at her home in Franklin while receiving hospice care.

In Franklin, Kentucky, Perry serves as a deacon and a member of the Franklin Church of Christ.

How Does Kenny Perry Spend His Money?

Kenny is dedicated to giving back and helping others. He’s a man of strong Christian faith and, as a deacon in his church, feels a strong compulsion to serve his community.

He obtained a $2.5 million loan in 1995 to buy 142 rural acres and created the sole public course in his tiny hometown of Kentucky. He gave it the name Country Creek that his daughter suggested.

Kenny is big on helping out, especially when it comes to children. In addition to providing scholarships to his wife’s college, David Lipscomb supports his hometown charities.

Kenny’s passion is Chevrolet motor cars—the faster and louder, the better. He remarked that he had to be good out on the fairway so that he could indulge his love of American muscle cars. He has a massive collection of some of the most expensive cars in the world sitting in his garage, many of which he’s rebuilt himself.

Summary

Through his charity work and successful golf career, Perry has demonstrated an undeniable passion for the golfing world and the community of Kentucky. He has won many awards and honors throughout his playing career and is undoubtedly an inspiration to his many fans and friends.

Kenny Perry’s net worth is estimated to be $30 Million.

What is Gary Player’s net worth?

Height:1.68 m (5 ft 6 in)
Country of Origin:South Africa

Introduction

Gary Player is a South African retired professional golfer with an estimated net worth of $250 Million.

Player is widely considered to be one of the greatest golfers ever. He has won nine major championships on the regular tour and nine major championships on the Champions Tour.

Career

Gary Player is one of the most successful professional golfers in history, and he’s tied for fourth place in major championship wins, having won nine.

Alongside Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer, Player is considered one of the “Big Three” golfers from the 1950s through 1970s.

He began competing on the PGA Tour in 1958 and has since earned several victories as one of the best golfers in the world.

A Golf Legend

Gary Player has won the South African Open 13 times and the Australian Open 7 times, more than any other professional golfer.

He also held the record for the most World Match Play Championship wins with five, until 2004 when Ernie Els surpassed him.

From 1968 to 1981, Player was in the top ten in world golf rankings and was only ranked second in ‘69, ‘70, and ‘72 to Jack Nicklaus.

Player was the only pro golfer to win the British Open in three different decades, with his first win occurring in 1959.

In 1974, he became one of the few golfers to win two major championships during the same season.

He last won the Masters in 1978 and, a week later, took home the victory at the Tournament of Champions.

When he was 48 in 1984, he became the oldest golfer ever to become a major champion after winning the PGA Championship.

After that, in 1998, he became the oldest golfer to play in the Masters, and he credited his diet and practice for allowing him to compete.

Coaching & Player’s Later Wins

As a South African, Gary Player was never eligible to play in the Ryder Cup where American and European golfers face off.

However, when the Presidents Cup was established to give International players a similar chance, Player was no longer eligible.

Instead, he became a non-playing captain for the International Team in 2003 when the event was held on a course he helped design.

Player was appointed captain again in 2005 and 2007, but his team ended up losing to the Americans both times.

While many of his tournament wins trickled off in the late 90s, Gary Player wasn’t entirely done with the sport himself.

In 2000, he took part in the Senior Skins Game, an unofficial event where he took home the win.

He also won the Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf tournament in 2009 and 2010 before taking part in the Insperity Invitational from 2012 to 2017.

Thanks to his prolific career, Gary Player became one of the richest golfers in the world with a career spanning over six decades.

Player’s Other Ventures

In 1983, Gary Player created The Player Foundation to bring education, medical care, and athletics to children living on the outskirts of Johannesburg, South Africa.

Since being established, his organization has branched out to help children across the globe and donate over $65 million to children’s charities.

Most recently, he donated $150,000 to Place of Home, an organization that aims to help foster children aging out of the system.

Primarily funded by grants and donations, the foundation also receives money from the four Gary Player Invitational Events that take place annually.

Alongside this, like Pete Dye, Gary Player has helped design numerous golf courses via The Player Design firm.

In total, the firm has completed over 400 courses in 41 different countries, offering three different design brands, including Gary Player Design and Black Knight Design.

When golf became part of the 2016 Summer Olympics, Gary Player Design was one of the finalists selected to design the official course.

Estimated Net Worth

Gary Player’s net worth is $250 Million.
