In 2019, Ja Morant signed a four-year, $39.6 million rookie contract with the Memphis Grizzlies. For his first season in the league, Morant earned $8.7 million, but by the end of the contract, he was earning $12.1 million per year.

Once the contract was up, Morant secured a lucrative five-year, $197.2 million extension with the team, which is currently the 22nd-highest-value active contract in the NBA. This deal commenced in the 2023/24 season, earning Ja approximately $34 million that year. Thus far, including this season, Morant has earned $110.2 million under the deal, bringing his career earnings to $149.8 million after just seven NBA seasons.

After the 2025/26 season concludes, Ja Morant will still have two years remaining on the contract, which are projected to earn him an additional $87 million, bringing his lifetime salary to $236.9 million by the end of the 2027/28 season.

Endorsement Deals

It really didn’t take long for Ja Morant to begin earning impressive stacks of cash off the court. His newfound stardom on the Grizzlies roster has secured him several lucrative partnerships with brands such as Beats by Dre, Bodyarmor, Hulu, Nike, Powerade, and PSD. The financial details behind these endorsements are incredibly speculative, but here are the most notable deals that the athlete has struck.

Nike Contract

Morant was signed by Nike right off the bat ahead of his rookie NBA season in 2019. New athletes typically earn low six-figure sums when first signing with Nike in their rookie years. However, by 2022, Ja Morant had already launched his first signature shoe with the company. The ‘JA’ basketball shoe is now on its third iteration and has been released in several colorways.

What’s interesting about this deal is that multiple sources are reporting Ja’s Nike income at $12 million per year. They also state that he began earning this figure in 2019, which is unheard of for a rookie. This $12 million number keeps popping up, but we were unable to verify the original source. Some outlets list the agreement as a multi-year deal worth $12 million overall, which is more likely.

Powerade Endorsement

Ja Morant became the face of Powerade in 2023, and the brand began putting together an ad campaign coined “What 50% More Means.” Powerade was preparing to pump $10 million into the campaign and radio and National television advertisements. Still, just days after the announcement, Morant hosted an Instagram Live video on his personal account, where he was seen pulling out a gun at a party.

As a result, Powerade pulled the campaign, but didn’t sever their partnership with the athlete. The NBA later fined Morant $75,000 for the incident, and he gave a public statement claiming that it was his Second Amendment right to bear arms.

In a similar scenario to his Nike contract, multiple reports suggest that the Powerade endorsement was either worth $10 million per year or $10 million overall. In either case, we were unable to verify these figures ourselves, but $10 million per year is highly unlikely for such a contract.

Real Estate

In August 2019, Ja Morant bought his parents an 8,987-square-foot, six-bedroom home in Eads, Tennessee, for $1.33 million. The property sits on 7.4 acres and features a home cinema room and games room. Based on recent estimates, the home’s current value is roughly $2.1 million.

According to reports and public records, in August 2022, Ja Morant paid $3.05 million for a 12,862-square-foot, seven-bedroom, eleven-bathroom mansion located close to his parents’ home in Eads. This property spans 6.45 acres and features amenities such as a home theater, games room, sauna, outdoor pool, and barbecue area. Recent estimates place the property’s current value at roughly $3.33 million, with annual property taxes of $29,000.

Expenditure

Ja recently paid $350,000 for a brand-new Aston Martin Vantage and also has a $1 million Rolls-Royce Dawn. He has a Mercedes-Benz A-Class, a Porsche Cayenne, and a Ferrari Roma locked away as well, so he’s not short of cars to choose from.

Summary

Ja Morant is a promising, extremely skilled basketball player who has made a strong impact on the professional scene early in his career.

Overall, Morant’s career so far can inspire and provide valuable lessons for any player looking to enter professional sports. After he was named the Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year in both 2018 and 2019 and then drafted by the Memphis Grizzlies, he hasn’t put a foot wrong.

His fans are looking forward to watching him develop into a mature player who will continue to provide entertaining basketball throughout the remainder of his career.

Total Career Earnings:$31,658,160

Cade Cunningham has had one of the most explosive starts to an NBA career we’ve ever seen. Before we get into the details, remember that Cade was born in 2001 and is only 24 years old. The Pistons star was the first overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, making his way to Detroit and signing a four-year, $45.6 million rookie contract. That, in and of itself, is a lot of money, and while first picks always receive high-value contracts, in recent draft years this figure has continued to skyrocket. Cooper Flagg, the most recent first-pick, just signed a $62.7 million rookie deal with Dallas.

In any case, for Cade’s first season in the NBA, he earned approximately $10 million in salary. This figure increased to $10.55 million in 2022, $11 million in 2023, and $13.94 million for the final year of the contract.

When it came time for Cunningham to extend his contract in 2025, this 24-year-old secured a five-year $269.1 million extension with the Pistons. This is currently the fourth-highest-value active contract in the league, and will pay Cade an average annual salary of $53.8 million.

Thus far in his career, Cade Cunningham has earned $92 million in salary, with 50% of that figure earned this year alone. By the end of the 2029/30 season, his career earnings are projected to reach $314.7 million.

Summary

Cade Cunningham has quickly become one of the rising stars of the NBA, and his career has only just started getting off the ground. Since his career is so new, it is expected that he will continue playing for many more seasons and potentially become one of the most famous players in the sport’s history.

Kareem Abdul Jabbar Net Worth

Kareem Abdul Jabbar was incredibly successful, earning millions as a basketball player and coach.

Kareem Abdul Jabbar Net Worth
Net Worth:$25 Million

Born:April 16, 1947

Introduction

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is an American retired professional NBA player and coach with an estimated net worth of $25 Million.

Net Worth History

It’s reported that Kareem Abdul Jabbar’s annual net worth is in the region of $25 Million, but now that he is retired, accurate figures are not available.

NBA Career

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is considered by basketball aficionados to be one of the all-time great basketball players. He was the Milwaukee Bucks’ first overall pick in 1969, and it wasn’t long before he was a dominant force in the league, resulting in the NBA Rookie of the Year title.

In 1971, Kareem led the Bucks to their first and only NBA championship in only his second season with the team. As a result, he was named Finals MVP after averaging 27 points and 18.5 rebounds per game during the series.

Abdul-Jabbar’s time with the Bucks produced superlative play, and he won the NBA Most Valuable Player award three times in just five seasons. He was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers in 1975, where he spent an eventful 14 seasons, winning five more NBA championships and three more MVP awards.

Abdul-Jabbar was most famous for his signature “skyhook” shot, which he used to devastating effect. He is often compared to the richest basketball players in the world, but his pay was much less than theirs, and, for him, it wasn’t about money anyway.

NBA Salary

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s salary during his NBA tenure was much more complex to research than most players’. There isn’t a single source that lists his annual salary for all twenty seasons of his career. Here’s the information we have been able to gather, although these are approximate figures and not fully verified.

In the rookie stage of KAJ’s career (1969-1973), he was earning between $250,000 and $450,000 per season with the Los Angeles Lakers. Abdul Jabbar’s salary gradually increased throughout the decade, and by the 1979/80 season, he was reportedly earning $1 million per year. Adjust for inflation, and this would equate to roughly $4.5 million in today’s currency.

By 1984, Kareem’s annual salary had reached $2 million, and in his final two seasons in the league, he reportedly earned roughly $3 million per year. At the time, this made KAJ the NBA’s highest-paid player. When all was said and done, it’s estimated that Kareem Abdul-Jabbar earned in the ballpark of $30 million during his career.

Divorce Settlement

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has been married twice, the first to Habiba Abdul-Jabbar in 1971. The couple had three children together before getting divorced in 1978. Not much information was made public regarding a settlement, although reports suggest that Kareem agreed to pay Habiba $1,500 per month as some form of support. It’s not clear whether this is related to alimony payments or child support. Nonetheless, Habiba later alleged that Kareem hadn’t been paying her the agreed-upon sum for over a year, but she didn’t contest it.

A few years later, in 1984, he married his second wife, Cheryl Pistono, with whom he has one child and is still happily married.

Business Manager Lawsuit

In 1986, Abdul-Jabbar filed a $55 million lawsuit against his former business manager, Tom Collins, in what turned out to be a very messy case. Kareem alleged that Collins had mismanaged funds and acted with gross negligence. The suit went on to state that Collins had made a series of bad investments on KAJ’s behalf and had also taken out bank loans, leaving Kareem personally liable for approximately $9 million in investors’ funds. Jabbar later paid over $1.2 million to buy his way out of several of these bad investments, and as a result of the lawsuit, spent several hundred thousand dollars in legal fees.

Tom Collins later filed a countersuit, alleging that KAJ owed him $382,050 in unpaid fees. Fellow NBA player Alex English then also jumped in, filing his own lawsuit against Kareem, claiming he loaned the Lakers star money that was never repaid. The situation became incredibly messy, with KAJ eventually adding Alex English’s name to his original lawsuit and adjusting his sought compensation to $59 million.

According to reports, this lawsuit was later settled out of court, but we have no idea how much of the money Abdul-Jabbar recovered.

Real Estate

Reports suggest that in the early ’90s, Kareem paid approximately $2.2 million for a 6,341-square-foot, four-bedroom, 5.5-bathroom home in Beverly Hills, California. He then invested a fair amount of money in the property, building an indoor sports court, a home gym, and a sauna. In 2001, Kareem sold the home for $2.7 million, and thus, he likely didn’t profit from the investment.

In December 2011, Abdul-Jabbar paid $1.525 million for a 3,586-square-foot, four-bedroom, three-bathroom home in Marina Del Rey, California. The former NBA star tried to sell the property roughly five years later in 2016, seeking $3.1 million. He reduced the price to as low as $2.8 million, but still no takers. The home was eventually rented out for $10,000 per month, and in 2021, it finally sold for $2.4 million.
