  • After being traded to the Miami Heat, Bosh joined LeBron James and Dwyane Wade to form a trio known as the Big Three.

  • In 2019, the Miami Heat retired his No. 1 jersey in his honor.

Early Life

Christopher Wesson Bosh was born March 24, 1984, to Noel and Freida Bosh in Dallas, Texas.

As a child, Chirs was raised in Hutchins, a suburb of Dallas, and he would often play basketball with his brother after having learned to dribble at only four years old.

Along with playing basketball, Bosh also participated in gymnastics and karate, and he also played baseball until he entered high school.

At Lincoln High School, Bosh began catching the eye of recruiters, especially as a 6 ft 11 teenager who towered significantly over others on the court.

While many colleges wanted to recruit him, Bosh ultimately decided on Georgia Tech after being impressed by the head coach there.

However, Bosh would only attend Georgia Tech for a year before leaving to enter the NBA Draft in 2003.

Chris Bosh was selected by the Toronto Raptors in 2003, along with LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Carmelo Anthony.

During his rookie season, Bosh averaged 11.5 points and 7.4 rebounds in 75 games, the highest of any rookie for the team.

Along with this, his 557 rebounds set the record for the most in a rookie season, leading to Bosh being selected as a member of the NBA All-Rookie First Team.

Bosh remained a member of the Toronto Raptors until 2010, and during this time, he received many awards, including being chosen to participate in the 2006 NBA All-Star Game.

When he finally moved on from the Raptors, Bosh was leading in points scored, blocks, rebounds, and minutes played, surpassing the records held by Vince Carter previously.

After the Raptors, Bosh joined the Miami Heat as part of a sign-and-trade deal where he teamed up with Dwayne Wade and LeBron James to form the Big Three.

Unfortunately, after appearing in numerous NBA Finals, Bosh was forced to resign in 2016 after being diagnosed with a blood clotting condition that the NBA ruled was a career-ending illness.

Off the court, Bosh has worked as a voice actor, lending his voice to the character of Heimdal in Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. in 2014.

Bosh has also dabbled in hip-hop, co-producing the Gucci Mane song “Miss My Woe” with Rico Love.
