Introduction

Rob Reiner was an American professional film director, producer, and actor with an estimated net worth of  $200 Million.

Reiner debuted as an actor in Meathead and gained popularity with the show All in the Family. While he may have garnered a lot of support as an actor in front of the camera, he experienced more success behind the camera as a director and producer.

Early Life

Rob Reiner grew up in The Bronx, New York, in a Jewish family and is the son of actress Estelle Reiner and renowned comedian, actor, writer, producer, Mel Brooks collaborator, and director Carl Reiner.

His sister is the poet, writer, and novelist Sylvia Anne Reiner, and his brother is the renowned painter, actor, and director Lucas Reiner.

When Rob turned 13, the family relocated to Los Angeles, and Rob attended Beverly Hills High School. Later, he enrolled at the University of California and, while there, helped create an improv group, “The Session”.

Career

His performance as Michael “Meathead” on the sitcom classic All in the Family cemented his position in television history from 1971 to 1979.

Though he struggled to create his own projects for some time after leaving the program, Reiner broke into feature filmmaking with “This Is Spinal Tap” in 1984. It was a documentary based on a fictional British heavy metal band that became a cult hit.

Reiner proceeded on a successful eight-year directing run that featured “Stand By Me” in 1986, “The Princess Bride” in 1987, and “When Harry Met Sally” in 1989. He worked with stars like Meg Ryan, Billy Crystal, and Carrie Fisher. He has since directed a thriller based on a Stephen King novel, “Misery,” which was released in 1990 and starred Kathy Bates, James Caan, and Lauren Bacall.

In 1992, he released the courtroom drama “A Few Good Men,” starring Jack NicholsonTom Cruise, and Demi Moore, which was nominated for an Academy Award.

With the movie “North” being an unsuccessful addition to an otherwise stellar career, despite starring Elijah Wood and Bruce Willis, Reiner fell into a directing rut.

Introduction

Luc Besson is a French professional film director, producer, and screenwriter with an estimated net worth of $100 Million.

Before Wealth & Fame

Due to his parents’ careers, Luc Besson was inspired to become a marine biologist, and he spent much of his youth traveling to resorts in Italy, Yugoslavia, and Greece. However, his parents divorced when he was 10, and by the age of 17, he had suffered a diving accident that left him unable to dive anymore, putting his dreams of marine biology on hold.

While becoming a marine biologist was his biggest dream, he had also become interested in writing as a teenager, having penned the first drafts of Le Grand Bleu before he turned 18. Falling back on this, Luc decided to take odd jobs on film sets across Paris to get a better feel for the industry before diving in himself.

Film Career

Luc Besson started out as an assistant to directors, including Patrick Grandperret and Claude Faraldo. He then moved on to directing short films and a couple of commercials before moving to the United States, where he started his own production company in 1980.

During the early 80s, Besson met composer Eric Serra, whom he tapped to write music for his short film L’Avant Dernier. While Besson directed many films, his biggest hit came in 1997 with The Fifth Element, starring Bruce Willis, Milla Jovovich, and Gary Oldman.

Since the late 90s, Besson has written and produced numerous action movies, including the hit Taxi and Transporter series. He also served as writer and producer on the Taken series starring Liam Neeson, which became another huge success for him.

EuropaCorp

In 1992, Luc Besson founded a European film studio, then known as Leeloo Productions. The company was later renamed to Europa Corp and has since become one of Europe’s leading motion picture companies. To date, it has produced or co-produced more than 120 films, including iconic franchises such as Taken and The Transporter.

EuropaCorp is a publicly traded company on the Euronext Growth Paris stock exchange. At the time of writing, it has a market valuation of €49 million ($56.7 million) and generates approximately €34 million ($39.3 million) in annual revenue. The most recent financial reports indicate that Frontline, Luc Besson’s holding company, owns approximately 12% of EuropaCorp. This would indicate that Besson’s stake in the company is currently valued at €5.9 million ($6.8 million)

Besson previously owned up to 60% of the company as recently as 2020; however, EuropaCorp was in a financial hole. To eliminate these issues, the company’s debt was ultimately converted into equity, and Vine Alternative Investments received a 60% stake in the business.

Several of EuropaCorp’s publicly available financial documents reportedly show that Luc Besson receives a director’s fee between $2 million and $6 million per film. He also allegedly receives 5% of the net producer profits.

Here’s a complete list of Luc Besson’s ten highest-grossing movies:

  8. Transporter 3 – $109 million (2008)
  9. Arthur and the Invisibles – $109 million (2006)
  10. Transporter 2 – $89 million (2005)

Real Estate

In 2016, Luc Besson bought Charlton Heston’s Beverly Hills estate for $12.2 million. The property consists of a 5,100-square-foot mansion with glass-walled dining and living areas, a double-height library, and stunning hillside views. A separate three-story structure on the property boasts an elevator, a staff suite, a screening room, a tennis court, and a multi-level art studio.

Besson lived in this mansion for years until finally selling it in 2022 for $11.7 million, a massive discount from his original $14.9 million asking price. In other words, he lost quite a lot of money on the sale.

Introduction

Ryan Lewis is an American music video director, record producer, and DJ with an estimated net worth of $22 Million.

Earnings History

YearEarnings
2013$9,000,000
2014$32,000,000
2015$5,500,000
2017$11,500,000
Total$58,000,000

The information in the table above is extracted from each year Macklemore and Ryan Lewis were mentioned on Forbes’ list of the “Hip-Hop Cash Kings.” Therefore, the figures aren’t referring to Lewis’ income specifically, but the duo’s income as a whole. When they debuted on the list in 2013, the duo reportedly earned an estimated $9 million. This was largely thanks to the 2012 release of their first studio album, The Heist. The album has since sold more than 6 million copies worldwide.

The following year, Macklemore and Lewis had the most lucrative year of their career, ranking as the 5th-highest-paid hip-hop artists with $32 million in earnings. Again, this was due to the continued success of The Heist and the subsequent tours, named The Heist Tour and The Fall Tour. The duo performed at approximately 234 concerts between 2013 and 2014, the most they’ve ever held in a two-year period.

In 2015, they realized their third consecutive year on the list, though their income had declined drastically to $5.5 million. After dropping off the list in 2016, they reappeared in 2017, thanks to the release of their second album, This Unruly Mess I’ve Made. However, the album was a bust, failing to chart in any country, compared to The Heist, which was certified platinum in 8 countries and sold 5 million copies in the United States. According to Forbes, the duo earned $11.5 million that year.

We don’t know how the two split their earnings, but if it were a 50/50 split, Ryan Lewis should have earned $29 million over the four years mentioned.

Real Estate

Ryan Lewis has accumulated significant wealth in a short period and has invested some of it in impressive real estate. In January 2014, Lewis paid $3.3 million for a 7,610-square-foot, six-bedroom, 4.5-bathroom home in Seattle, Washington. The waterfront property overlooks Elliott Bay and features amenities including a theatre room, home office, second-floor balcony, and a custom-designed bar.

It appears that Lewis began trying to sell this home in June 2017, listing it for $7.45 million. He removed and relisted it several times over the next couple of years, reducing the price to $6.85 million. After another reduction to $6.6 million, he eventually let it go for $5.6 million in July 2020.

Summary

That concludes this complete guide to the life, career, and net worth of music producer, DJ, and graphic designer Ryan Lewis. His continued involvement with Macklemore and other high-profile singers ensures future success as a producer and performer.
