Draymond Green is an American professional NBA player who plays for the Golden State Warriors.

Green, who plays primarily at the power forward position, is a three-time NBA champion and a three-time NBA All-Star.

In 2017, he won the NBA Defensive Player of the Year.

As of July 2024, Draymond Green’s net worth is estimated to be roughly $90 Million.

Early Life

Draymond Jamal Green was born on the 4th of March, 1990, in Michigan.

Green stayed with his mother after her divorce and is very close to her.

He has two brothers, Torrian Harris and Braylon Green, and three sisters, LaToya Barbers, Jordan Davis, and Gabby Davis. Torrian Harris played basketball for Nebraska-Omaha from 2009 to 2011.

Draymond Green began his basketball career under coach Tom Izzo, assisting Michigan State in winning the Big Ten tournament in 2012. Later that year, the Golden State Warriors selected him 35th overall in the NBA Draft, joining Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson.

He made his NBA debut for the Golden State Warriors and, with Klay Thompson and Andre Iguodala, won his first NBA title with the Warriors.

Green was named to the All-Defensive First Team and was selected to play in his first NBA All-Star Game, joining All-Stars like LeBron James and Kevin Durant.

Green’s Complicated Warriors Legacy

In 2015, he was integral to the Warriors’ small-ball “Death Lineup” alongside Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Andre Iguodala, and Harrison Barnes.

Playing beside teammates Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Kevin Durant, he won his second NBA championship in 2017, marking a substantial milestone in his career.

While John Wall led the league in steals per game, Draymond was crowned NBA Defensive Player of the Year and led the NBA in steals. He continued to play for the Golden State Warriors, where he won his third NBA championship alongside Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant.

In 2018, Green was suspended for one game with the Golden State Warriors for a heated argument with teammate Kevin Durant.

From COVID To Career High

Shortly after, in the NBA Finals against the Toronto Raptors, he recorded a triple-double and inked a four-year, $100 million contract deal with the Warriors. Unfortunately, not long after he signed with the Warriors, he missed most of training camp after testing positive for COVID-19.

After recovering, Green recorded a career-high 19 assists against the Charlotte Hornets in 2021, facing off against Gordon Hayward and Terry Rozier. That same year, he passed Michael Jordan for 17th place in career triple-doubles and won his fourth NBA title.

In 2022, Draymond was selected to his fourth NBA All-Star Game and named to the NBA All-Defensive Second Team.

From Winning Gold To NBA Suspensions

The Warriors fined him for an altercation with teammate Jordan Poole and suspended him for one game for stomping on Domantas Sabonis’ chest. To exacerbate the situation, Green was given a five-game suspension for choking Rudy Gobert and an indefinite suspension by the NBA for hitting Jusuf Nurkić.

While competing alongside NBA players Damian Lillard and Kevin Durant, Green won gold medals for Team USA at the Olympics in Rio and Tokyo. Green was an essential club member in both competitions, serving as a playmaker and adaptable defense, which helped the team win.

In February 2018, the NBA fined Green $50,000 for using inappropriate and offensive language with referee Lauren Holtkamp after the Warriors’ 125-105 defeat to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Favorite Quotes from Draymond Green

“So many times, I watch games and think, ‘Man, why is that guy trying to score like that? He can’t do it.’ But he’s been told his whole life, ‘You have to get 40 if you want to be one of the top dogs.’ My goal is to build a lane where you can be a top dog, and you don’t have to get that 40. You can go get four and still be a top dog.” – Draymond Green

“Think about deflections. The offense can’t score every play. They’re just trying to get a good shot. If I can deflect a pass, even if it doesn’t cause a turnover, it will throw their timing off half a second. That half-a-second might mess up their shot.” Draymond Green

“I have the mindset of a mid-level guy or a minimum guy. My path here wasn’t expected: my path wasn’t that I was going to the NBA and making $16 million a year. So I identify more with those guys, and I want to be a voice for them. I want to help them elevate their status in the league. That’s my goal.” – Draymond Green

“One thing I’ve always been taught at the defensive end is you hit first. In life, you throw the first punch; you don’t get punched first. It’s the same on defense: You’ve got to hit first. Do your work early. That’s what I was always taught. If you don’t do your work early, you’re done.” – Draymond Green

“In the NBA, there’s always a guy who is only around because he can jump. He doesn’t have a clue about the fundamentals. I learn more from the WNBA. They know how to dribble, how to pivot, how to use the shot fake.” – Draymond Green

After another successful season, Zach LaVine earned his second All-Star appointment following his first All-Star game. That season, the Bulls also made the playoffs, marking LaVine’s first post-season appearance in his career.

Soon after, in July 2022, the Bulls re-signed LaVine to a five-year max contract, ensuring his stay with the team.

LaVine then surpassed Scottie Pippen by having at least 40 points in four career games with 70% shooting.

In March 2023, LaVine scored 39 points, while DeMar DeRozan scored 49, for a combined total of the most points scored by a Bulls duo.

However, during the 2023 season, he missed 17 games due to inflammation in his foot.

The Pelicans selected him first overall in the 2019 NBA Draft after a freshman-year stint with the Duke Blue Devils.

As of July 2024, Zion Williamson’s net worth is approximately $18 Million.

Early Life

Zion Williamson was born on the 7th of July, 2000, in Salisbury, North Carolina.

Williamson is the son of parents Lateef Williamson and Sharonda Sampson.

Born into an athletic family, Williamson learned basketball from his mother early.

His father played professional football as a defensive lineman, while his mother was a professional sprinter.

Zion Williamson started making a name for himself in high school, winning the Under Armour Elite 24 showcase dunk contest.

During his junior season, Williamson went viral with his highlight videos, and Drake even wore his jersey in an Instagram post. After surpassing 2,000 points in January 2017, Williamson appeared on the cover of Slam and received All-USA First Team Honors.

Williamson finished his high school career as South Carolina’s Mr. Basketball and the runner-up to Mr. Basketball USA.

In a live interview on ESPN, Williamson committed to attending Duke University, playing his first game for them in November 2018.

Duke University

Zion Williamson started his collegiate career strong and was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Freshman of the Week.

Soon after, he broke the record for the most points recorded in a single game and was named ACC Freshman of the Week once more.

Unfortunately, in February 2019, Williamson was benched with a knee sprain after his shoe broke, causing him to slip. Following the incident, Nike’s stock dropped $1.1 billion, while Williamson earned Rookie of the Year and Player of the Year honors.

He then appeared in the NCAA Tournament, joining Kevin Durant and Anthony Davis as the third freshman to earn 500 points, 50 steals, and 50 blocks in a season.

New Orleans Pelicans

After entering the 2019 NBA draft, the New Orleans Pelicans selected Zion Williamson with the first pick.

Unfortunately, Williamson tore the cartilage in his knee during the preseason, delaying his debut until January 2020. However, once he was on the court again, Williamson wasted no time making a name for himself and racking up points. In his first eight games, he scored at least 20 points in four consecutive games, the longest 20+ point streak by a rookie Pelican.

Soon after, he surpassed Carmelo Anthony as the first teenager to score at least 20 points in 10 consecutive games in NBA history.

He became the first rookie since Michael Jordan to earn 16 20-point games within their first 20 contests.

Following his rookie season, Zion Williamson tied Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s record for the longest 20-point streak in his first two seasons. His streak eventually surpassed Wilt Chamberlin and Karl Malone’s streaks, tying him with Shaquille O’Neal’s record of 25.

While things were going well for the basketball star, during the 2021 off-season, he suffered a fracture in his foot and underwent surgery. Williamson missed the entirety of the 2021-2022 season, but in July 2022, he signed a five-year extension with the Pelicans.

He returned in October 2022 and earned Western Conference Player of the Week honors before being sidelined with a hamstring injury in January. Ultimately, he ended up sitting out the rest of the season and returning in November 2023. Although he returned strong, on April 16, 2024, he suffered another injury during a game against the L.A. Lakers.

Favorite Quotes from Zion Williamson

“I was sitting in [rookie forward] Kevin Knox’s locker. I saw [former Knicks superstar Kristaps] Porzingis’s locker right when I walked in, but you know, outta respect for him—he’s a very great player, and hopefully, I can get to that level. He’s an MVP-caliber player.” – Zion Williamson

“No, not at all. I don’t know how to describe it. Everybody on the team—even though I’m closest with R.J., I can go hang out with Justin Robinson, Brennan Besser, Mike Buckmire… We all hang out with each other. There is no odd man out.” – Zion Williamson

“Coming in, we understood that yeah, we’re good, but freshmen don’t really win the national championship. You always need veteran support. We just learn from them. We take in everything we can.” – Zion Williamson

“I mean, we both understand the situation, but the only thing we can do is go out, play our best, try to win as a team because, at the end of the day, an NBA team is gonna pick who they want. You see some of these guys who’ll go for 40 points and stuff—but that doesn’t really affect your draft pick.” – Zion Williamson

“I’m not always gonna play 30-plus minutes, and that’s something I knew before I came here. So if I play 20 minutes, I’m not fazed by it at all, because that just comes along with being on a great team.” – Zion Williamson

3 Key Business Lessons from Zion Williamson

Zion Williamson Success Lessons

Now that you know all about Zion Williamson’s net worth and how he achieved success, let’s take a look at some of the lessons we can learn from him:

1. Risk is Only One Misstep Away

Freakish though the event was, the massively public sneaker malfunction (less than a minute into a much-anticipated Duke vs. North Carolina game) highlights the unexpected but serious nature of risk.

We often think of risk as being simply the province of insurance and investment companies, but that’s far from accurate.

All companies face different risks depending on the nature of their environments. No matter the business, you can’t overestimate the value of sound, solid risk management.

2. You Can Never Take Quality for Granted

Whatever your business—whether it’s microchips, jet engines, lettuce-growing, being a priest, or writing articles for Forbes—it requires continual vigilance. Severe quality fault lines have a way of being quickly exposed.

3. Avoid Teams Who Are Over-Reliant On One Key Player

Avoid teams ho have a clear weakness that can be exploited by smart opponents in high-stakes situations, or who have shown a history of crumbling under pressure.

These teams are fragile, making it tougher to run the table through a postseason.

His father grew up running track and field and playing basketball; as a youth, he played against Kitchener native Lennox Lewis before Lewis began his professional boxing career.

Jamal played AAU basketball for CIA Bounce, a prominent Canadian grassroots basketball program based in Ontario, alongside Andrew Wiggins, Anthony Bennett, and Nik Stauskas. Under head coach John Calipari, he committed to Kentucky in 2015 and broke Anthony Davis’ record as a freshman by scoring 20.0 points per game.

He opted out of his final three years of college eligibility for the NBA draft, joining the Denver Nuggets alongside Nikola Jokić and Gary Harris. While with the Nuggets, Jamal scored a career-high in a game against Damian Lillard and the Portland Trail Blazers.

In 2016, he was selected Western Conference Rookie of the Month for his outstanding performance in October and November that season.

A year later, Murray posted 36 points and 11 assists, playing alongside Kristaps Porziņģis in the MVP of the Rising Stars Challenge.

Murray’s Rise Before The Setback

He was named to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team in 2017 and impressed Kyrie Irving by scoring 48 points against the Boston Celtics in 2018. Murray recorded a career-high fifteen assists when playing against the Dallas Mavericks in December 2018, highlighting his skills and court vision.

In 2020, he delivered a stunning 50-point performance in Game 4 of the playoffs against Donovan Mitchell and the Utah Jazz. During the 2020 playoffs, Jamal led the Nuggets to overcome two 3-1 series deficits against the Utah Jazz and Kawhi Leonard of the LA Clippers.

In September 2020, he advanced to the Western Conference Finals, where he faced LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers. Murray scored a career-high 50 points without attempting any free throws, becoming the second player in NBA history after Wilt Chamberlain to achieve this. Shortly after this, Jamal suffered a torn ACL, leading to a significant absence, only playing his first game in 2022 after eighteen months.

Receiving Praise From Shaquille O’Neal & LeBron James

In 2023, he surpassed Will Barton by becoming the All-Time Nuggets leader in 3-pointers and led the Nuggets to their first NBA championship.

During the NBA Finals, he averaged 21.4 points and ten assists per game, joining Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, and LeBron James. He showed his clutch play under pressure in 2024, winning a thrilling playoff series over Anthony Davis with a game-winning buzzer-beater shot.

Jamal has repeatedly broken personal and franchise records throughout his career, earning praise from legends Shaquille O’Neal and LeBron James.

Murray hurled a towel and heat pack toward the court from the bench during Game 2 of the Conference Semifinals against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The following day, he was fined $100,000 but was spared suspension; still, the Nuggets lost the series despite his 35-point performance in Game 7.

Favorite Quotes from Jamal Murray

“I’d say like 15. 15 lbs. It’s a good weight, too. I’m going to try to play with this weight, too, as long as I can. It makes a difference. When I drive, I can feel my body a little better. I can take more hits. My biggest thing is I can switch on bigger guys playing defense in the post. That’s my biggest priority right now, playing defense.” Jamal Murray

“That’s what we’re used to. It’s not like we have to get back into it. We already know that we want to play fast. We want to move the ball, get up and down, and share the ball, which is the biggest part. It’s going to come naturally.” – Jamal Murray

“Oh, it’s very refreshing. It was great to hear. I was happy for them, happy to see everybody striving. Happy to see the core still together. You don’t want to have a team where all of the pieces go all over the place.” – Jamal Murray

“Life is a weird thing because it puts roadblocks in front of you, sometimes you gotta go through it, sometimes you gotta go around it, sometimes you gotta take a pause and look back at what you’re gonna do, have a plan.” – Jamal Murray

“It’s not just passing. I gotta play defense. I gotta rebound, I gotta talk, I could have 40 and not talk and not bring energy. But it’s just trying to have an all-around game, just trying to be the leader I can be, get the pace up.” – Jamal Murray

“I remember playing hockey as a kid – I was a goalie in gym class, and I was pretty good at it. But basketball was my passion. As a kid, I went to class, came back from school, did my homework and went straight across the street to practice.” – Jamal Murray
