Music Career

With his background playing the piano and growing passion for electronic dance music, Alesso was ready to begin his professional career. This was marked by the release of his 2010 Alesso EP, which included three original mixes; Think It’s Time, Moma, and Workaholic.

The Alesso EP gained the attention of Sebastian Ingrosso, a member of the Swedish House Mafia, who took Alesso under his wing as a mentor.

Swedish House Mafia Mentorship

Throughout 2010 and 2011, Alesso and Ingrosso worked together to hone Alesso’s music production skills while also teaching him how to DJ. The efforts paid off, gaining attention from a leading industry publication and debuting at number 79 on the list of top 100 DJs for DJ Magazine.

At the same time, his early production efforts, including the original track ‘Calling’ and a remix of ‘Pressure’ by Nadia Ali lit up the Beatport charts. The success of ‘Pressure’ was reflected in his first award win, with the International Dance Music Awards naming it Best Progressive Track of 2012. Indeed, the latter track proved to be popular among EDM fans, becoming one of the most-played songs of 2011 on The Hype Machine.

MTV Recognition & Rise To Fame

In 2012, international music outlet MTV gave Alesso further exposure after naming him among the “EDM Rookies to Watch,” boosting his profile. The same year, Alesso appeared on Radio 1’s Essential Mix, following this with an appearance alongside Madonna for her MDNA World Tour.

DJ sets at some of the biggest music festivals in the world followed, including main stage appearances at Creamfields and Ultra Music Festival. These performances were complemented by a series of new tracks and remixes, including a Grammy award-winning mix of ‘If I Lose Myself.’

His next release, ‘Under Control,” saw Alesso collaborating with IDM icon Calvin Harris and Hurts, receiving millions of views on SoundCloud.

Signing With Def Jam Recordings In 2014

Alesso’s career went into high gear in 2014 following his signing to Def Jam Recordings and the release of ‘Tear the Roof Up.’ The success of this single led to another major international tour for Alesso, teaming up with Chime for Change, a charity dedicated to women’s rights.

The following year, his debut studio album, ‘Forever,’ hit the charts, consolidating his growing reputation as a genre-defining producer of EDM. While the album received mixed critical responses, sales around the world pointed to a rising fan base of Alesso fans eager for more material.

This appeal was no doubt bolstered by the release of the single ‘Cool,’ which included samples from the Kylie Minogue song ‘Get Outta My Way.’

Post-2016 Career

Following the commercial success of his debut album, Alesso split his time between touring and production on various standalone singles. During a period of creativity, he collaborated with a range of celebrated artists, both from within the EDM community and in pop music circles.

Singles including I Wanna Know,’ ‘Let Me Go,’ and ‘Remedy’ all delivered impressive results on the charts, achieving gold and platinum certification.

In 2020, Alesso partnered with one of house music’s most iconic producers, Armin Van Buuren, for the hit single ‘Leave A Little Love.’ The following year, his work with Katy Perry on the single ‘When I’m Gone’ led to mainstream recognition and a significant increase in his net worth.

Video Game & Television Appearances

In addition to his international DJ tours and discography of singles and remixes, Alesso has made appearances on television shows and video games. The hugely popular game Payday 2, released on consoles in 2015, included a level named The Alesso Heist that featured his music productions.

Introduction

Charlie Sloth is an English professional DJ, producer, and TV presenter with an estimated net worth of $45 Million.

Sloth was born in Camden Town and raised in Somers Town, North West London, England. He is best known for being a BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra radio host.

Music Career

Charlie Sloth released his first mixtape in 2004 called The Big Boot, but it largely flew under the radar. The same year, he was cast in the BBC series Tower Block Dreams, which marked his first major appearance on TV.

That said, he was fairly well-known on pirate radio under his alias Sloth, as a music producer for underground hits. However, Sloth still had a long way to go until he rivaled the richest DJs in the world, but fortunately, he was up for the challenge.

Early Career

Charlie Sloth earned more notoriety than ever before when he won Most Original Video at the CraveFeat Awards in Canada. This award was given to him for his 2007 music video “Guided Tour of Camden,” which he recorded and produced.

At the same time, Sloth created his own weekly video series called Being Charlie Sloth, which documented his life. The online series was picked up by WorldStarHipHop.com, and it ended up running for a successful 59 episodes.

In 2008, Sloth took home the Best Rap/Hip-Hop Unsigned Artist award at the CraveFest Awards in Canada. Soon after, Sloth started to gain renown for his freestyle brand Fire in the Booth, and many prominent artists came to his studio to perform.

Some of the most notable have been Drake and Migos, who appeared on the show during Sloth’s tenure on 1Xtra. Running for over 400 episodes, Fire in the Booth is easily one of Sloth’s most significant ventures as a musician and DJ.

A Radio Legend

Starting in 2012, Charlie Sloth began hosting the daily drivetime show on BBC Radio 1Xtra, which introduced him to a huge audience. Dedicated to hip-hop and urban music, this hosting gig was perfect for Sloth, and he quickly developed a reputation for his passion and knowledge.

Sloth continued hosting on 1Xtra and, in 2017, started hosting the late-night show The 8th, which was simulcast on 1Xtra and Radio 1 Monday through Thursday. This new show included not just music content, but social media and video as well, and coupled with Sloth’s personality, it quickly became a hit.

However, in October 2018, Charlie Sloth announced he would be leaving 1Xtra with his last show being on November 3rd. Subsequently, Sloth stormed the stage at the Audio and Productions Award show and went on a rant after losing out on the ARIA Award. In response, Radio 1 let him go on October 20th, stating he wouldn’t be completing his final ten shows.

Recent Career

Following his outburst at the awards show, Charlie Sloth apologized for his behavior, stating that it was just supposed to be a funny stunt.

In January 2019, he then announced on Instagram that he would be moving Fire in the Booth over to Apple Music and Beats 1. At the same time, Sloth took over hosting the Rap Show on Apple Music while also curating playlists for the platform.

Along with this, Sloth launched the vodka brand AU Vodka while continuing to manage his record label, Grimey Limey. Most recently, he signed a deal with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation in August 2020 that created a partnership between them.

AU Vodka Investment

Before being involved with AU Vodka, Sloth initially wanted to set up his own vodka brand and, in his own words, spent roughly £100,000 developing the idea. However, he was dissatisfied with his initial development and struggled to determine how to continue.

Coincidentally, not too long after, Charlie Morgan and Jackson Aaron Quinn, the entrepreneurs behind AU Vodka, sent Sloth a DM on Instagram. The pair asked Sloth if they could send him some bottles and potentially secure a shoutout from the DJ. Sloth asked if the pair were looking for investment, and while they weren’t at the time, in 2017, Sloth received 200 shares, equating to a 20% stake in AU Vodka. Morgan and Quinn each owned 40% of the company.

Sloth played a significant role in promoting the brand in tandem with hip-hop artists who appeared on Fire in the Booth. According to the company’s filings for the year ending April 2023, AU Vodka turned over £54 million, with £19.7 million in gross profit and £10.38 million in net profit. According to those same documents, Sloth received a dividend of £500,000 for the year.

With the company’s most recent valuation estimated at approximately £150 million, Charlie Sloth’s 20% stake would be worth £30 million. In a 2023 interview on The Diary of a CEO, Sloth suggested that by the end of the year, the company could be worth as much as £800 million. We’ll have to wait until the next company filing to assess whether that’s the case.

Estimated Net Worth

When we first started tracking Charlie Sloth’s net worth in 2020, it was estimated at just $3 million. However, that didn’t take into account his 20% investment with AU Vodka, which, at the time, wasn’t profitable. Since then, the brand has done over £100 million in turnover, with Charlie’s shares valued at roughly £30 million ($40.1 million).

As of 2024, we’re estimating Charlie Sloth’s net worth at approximately $45 Million.

Summary

Charlie Sloth is a successful BBC radio DJ host who launched his career as a DJ, playing hip-hop on the pirate radio station Raw FM. Mixtapes like ‘The Big Boot’ and ‘Secret Society’ followed, and in 2007, his video “Guided Tour of Camden” won “Most Original Video” at the Canadian CraveFest awards.

Charlie Sloth’s net worth is $45 Million.

Career

Robbert van de Corput began taking piano lessons at age four and produced his electro songs at twelve.

His inspiration came from Tiësto, who made him explore the commercial electronic dance music scene more, paving the way to success.
