Michael Strahan is a retired American former football defensive end who spent his entire 15-year career with the New York Giants of the NFL. Strahan set a record for the most sacks in a season in 2001.
Michael Anthony Strahan was born on the 21st of November, 1971, in Houston, Texas. The youngest of six children, Strahan spent a good portion of his childhood in Mannheim, Germany.
A gifted athlete with a tall frame, Strahan returned to Texas for his senior year of high school. Although he had played organized football in Germany, Strahan lacked the experience of the other players he competed against as a member of the Westbury High School team.
During his second year in the league, Strahan became a full-time starter for the Giants. He registered his first double-digit quarterback sack season in 1997, with 14, earning his first trip to the Pro Bowl for his efforts.
Over the next decade, Strahan proved to be a dominating defensive force for the Giants. Following a 15-sack campaign in 1998, he set an NFL single-season record with 22.5 sacks in 2001.
Strahan’s career ended on a high note. After mulling retirement, the star veteran returned to the Giants for the 2007 season. That year, along with quarterback Eli Manning, Strahan led the club to its first Super Bowl victory in nearly two decades.
Even before Strahan had left the game of football, it was generally believed that he had a future in television. Following his retirement, Strahan was hired as a football analyst with FOX Sports.
In 2009, Strahan starred in the short-lived FOX sitcom Brothers. Then in September 2012, Strahan was named the new co-host of Live! With Kelly.

Favorite Quotes from Michael Strahan
“By the time I left college, I had won every award you could win – I was Mr. Man! Then I got drafted by the Giants, and you step in that locker room, and you feel inferior in every way. You just have to stick around long enough to give yourself the opportunity to build your confidence.” – Michael Strahan
“I have the biggest sweet tooth! You name it, I will eat it. My all-time favorite is my mother’s butter cake. Every time I go home, my mom will already have the cake made because I love it so much. This makes my siblings mad because they think she favors me. I don’t care because she probably does!” – Michael Strahan
“My goal had been to win a championship, work toward the Hall of Fame, have my jersey retired by the team and I’d go in as a lifelong New York Giant, but I’m now resigned to the fact that this won’t happen.” – Michael Strahan
“When you’re a 20-something-year-old athlete and you’re getting a six-figure check every week, you’re not thinking about next week. You’re not thinking, ‘I’m going to be broke,’ or ‘I’m going to need another job.’ But I’ll tell you, there are a lot of broke athletes out there – I know plenty – and I didn’t want to end up as one.” – Michael Strahan
