Russell Carrington Wilson was born November 29, 1988, in Cincinnati, Ohio, United States.

Wilson was born at Cincinnati’s Christ Hospital and was raised in Richmond, Virginia. His parents are Tammy Wilson, a nurse director, and lawyer Harrison Benjamin Wilson III.

Harrison IV is his older brother, while Anna is his younger sister and one of his biggest fans.

When Wilson was four years old, he began playing football with his father and brother. In sixth grade, he took part in his first official game for the Tuckahoe Tomahawks minor football club.

Wilson participated in the Manning Passing Academy during his time in high school, a summer football camp for promising players. It was run by director Peyton Manning, a future Hall of Fame quarterback and multiple NFL MVP winner.

Manning recognized Wilson several years later when he flew to Denver to discuss the possibility of being picked by the Denver Broncos, with whom Manning had recently signed.

Wilson enjoyed participating in other sports too, and played baseball and basketball for the Collegiate School.
