During this time, he led his team to the SM-liiga championship and was named the best goaltender and best player of the 1999 playoffs.

Kiprusoff then moved to the United States in 199 and joined the San Jose Sharks’ AHL affiliate team, the Kentucky Thoroughblades.

 

Career 

After making his debut with Kentucky during the 2000-01 season, he quickly made a name for himself as a talented goaltender, earning his first NHL win against the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim.

The following season, Kiprusoff got the chance to become a starter, but due to a rough start, he ended up being regulated to a backup role.

Despite his lackluster season, Kiprusoff was offered a new one-year contract for $800k, which he accepted.

During the 2003-04 season, rumors of a trade started circulating, and Kiprusoff became frustrated that he wasn’t allowed to play during the first quarter of the season.
