The rarest video game consoles are certainly no joke when it comes to price.
You’d better have some deep pockets if you’re thinking about buying any of these, as they’ll set you back anywhere from $1,200, right the way up to $433,000!
Yes, $433,000 for a game console. Madness!
Anyway, for all you game console enthusiasts out there, and collectors for that matter, here’s a list of the 15 rarest video game consoles.
Enjoy!
The 15 Rarest Video Game Consoles
The list of video game consoles and figures mentioned below have been compiled from various sources around the web, such as Game Rant & Screen Rant.
These are the 15 rarest video game consoles:
15. PlayStation 4 20th Anniversary Edition – ($1200)
Kicking off the list of the 15 rarest video game consoles is the 20th-Anniversary Edition of the PlayStation 4.
Released in 2015, this rare console was purposely designed to look like an original PlayStation 1 and we think it looks awesome!
Numbers were limited and you could only get your hands on one if you pre-ordered it or were lucky enough to win one as a competition prize.
This console was more than just looks, as it also came with its own unique theme, which added a PS1-style dashboard and included the original PS1 sound on boot up!
14. Seaman Christmas Dreamcast – ($2,500)
Coming in at number fourteen is the Seaman Christmas Dreamcast.
This console was manufactured in a translucent red color and only 850 were made in Japan, which made getting one extremely difficult.
The Christmas Dreamcast was a big hit in Japan and consequently all 850 consoles were sold.
If you were to get your hands on one now, you’d be looking at paying somewhere around $2,500 for it, which is a small price to pay to own one of the rarest video game consoles of all time!
13. Cuphead Xbox One X – ($3,000)
The Cuphead Xbox One X game console was designed for a launch event in Los Angeles, in 2017.
Only four consoles were ever made and they were all given away as prizes during the event.
If you were one of the lucky few that managed to get your hands on one, and still own it, you could be looking at a console value now of around $3,000!
Not too shabby considering it was free!
12. Beatles Rock Band Xbox 360 – ($3,600)
For all the Beatles fans out there, this one’s for you!
This hand-painted game console was sold at auction to raise money for Doctors Without Borders.
But, it was not the only one, as a few more hand-painted consoles were made and given away as prizes in an Xbox Live competition.
All you had to do was buy All You Need Is Love on Xbox Live and you were automatically entered into the prize draw.
So, if you’re one of the people that own one of these consoles, then you could be looking at getting somewhere in the region of $3,600 for it if you were to sell it privately!
11. Pokémon 2009 World Championships DSI ($4,000)
Who doesn’t love Pokémon?!
These cool looking Nintendo DSi’s were given away to lucky fans at special Nintendo events over the years.
The DSi features unique Pokémon decals that were consistently changed year on year.
However, not all models are worth as much as the 2009 edition, which is worth somewhere in the region of $4,000.
If Pokémon is your thing, and you’re serious about collecting Pokémon collectables, then try hunting one of these rare video game consoles down and see if you can grab yourself a deal!
10. 24K Gold-Dipped PlayStation 3 – ($5,000)
The tenth rarest game console is the 24K Gold-Dipped PlayStation 3, which you can expect to pay around $5,000 for in today’s climate.
Personally, I love the look it, and it’s certainly a show stopper, to say the least. You’d be the only one of your friends with a Gold PlayStation 3, and, you’d feel like a boss every time you play it.
Only five of these bad boys were made, making them extremely rare and valuable and highly unlikely to be on the Christmas list for most.
9. Maziora Dreamcast – ($6,000)
The Maziora Dreamcast is the ninth rarest game console and only 500 were made.
They were designed for Maziora, a Japanese motor company, and were able to change color depending on which way you looked at it, or moved it around in the light.
Its official color was green, however, from other angles, it can appear to be purple or dark blue.
As well as the console itself, you’d also receive a motorbike helmet key chain, a “dream passport” and a dream cast sticker.
A pretty good deal if you ask me.
8. Pokémon World Championships Nintendo DSI XL – ($7,000)
Just like the previous Pokémon World Championship Nintendo DSI XL on our list, this one’s also worth a fair bit of cash and is extremely rare.
Players were awarded this rare game console as a prize for winning the Pokémon World Championships in 2010.
It’s one of the most eye-catching consoles on the list, featuring a bright yellow design, Pokémon decals on the front, and the official Pokémon World Championships logo embossed in the top right-hand corner.
The game console was valued to be around $7,000 but it’s not been officially sold for that as of yet.

7. The 10 Million Model PS1 – ($7,500)
The next rarest game console is The 10 Million Model PS1.
PlayStation decided to celebrate selling over 10 million PS1 units by creating a dark blue limited edition PS1.
And, as you see from the picture, it’s a real stunner. Perhaps even better looking than the 20th Anniversary PS3 we mentioned earlier.
Whichever one you prefer, there’s no denying that this version is extremely rare, and now worth somewhere in the region of $7,500.
6. Shadow Of The Tomb Raider Xbox One X – ($8,300)
Now, this is one amazing looking game console! Just look at it… what a beauty!
The Shadow of The Tomb Raider Xbox One X game console is one of a kind, and, was auctioned on eBay by Microsoft in order to help raise money for the Best Friends charity.
Other than the fact it might cost somewhere in the region of $8,300 now, there’s not really much else to say about the console, to be honest.
So, I suggest you take the extra time to marvel in all its glory and appreciate this stunning machine.
5. Lara Croft Gem-Studded Xbox 360 – ($11,000)
Coming in at number five is the Gem-Studded Lara Croft Xbox 360.
With a value of around $11,000, you’d expect a gem-studded console, and that’s exactly what you get. The Tomb Raider-themed console was modeled on Lara Crofts portrait from Tomb Raider: Legend.
It has over 11,000 gemstones in total and less than a handful of consoles were ever made, making them extremely rare and exclusive to a select few.
If you’ve got $11,000 burning a hole in your pocket, and you’re a big Lara Croft Fan, then see if you can hunt one down and arrange a deal.
4. Rose Gold PS4 & Xbox One – ($13,699)
Now, this is another stunning looking machine if I do say so myself.
This work of art was created by Gatti Luxury Lab, an Italian Jewelers that wanted to make the best looking game console money can buy for gamers who love luxury.
Both the Xbox One and the PS4 contain over 220g of nine karat gold, with the PS4 holding 6 grams more than the Xbox One.
When the luxury video game consoles went on sale, at Jumbo Electronics, they were marketed for over five figures, and, are now thought to be worth around $13,699.
3. Atari Cosmos – ($18,853)
The Atari Cosmos was the only game console on our list to not be officially released but still managed to make it’s way on to the list as the third rarest game console of all time.
Just before the official launch Atari pulled the console for reasons unclear, meaning 250 units were sitting around with no games room to go to.
However, one Cosmos did manage to find its way onto eBay and ended up selling for a whopping $18,853! How much?!! Yep, crazy money for a console that never got to see the light of day.
So, if you manage to come across one at some backyard sale somewhere, grab it and stick on eBay, as there’s a small fortune to be made!
2. Gold Legend of Zelda Game Boy Advance SP – ($20,000)
The second-rarest game console is the Gold Legend of Zelda Game Boy Advance SP.
It was created to mark the release of The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap by Nintendo of Europe.
However, you weren’t just able to buy one, you had to find a golden ticket inside a limited edition Game Boy Advance SP bundle. Pretty cool, right?!
The console is completely gold plated and super rare. It’s certainly not every day you’re going to see someone rocking one of these.
1. Nintendo Wii Supreme – ($433,000)
Topping the list of the rarest video game consoles is the gorgeous Nintendo Wii Supreme.
Brace yourself, as the most expensive console ever is valued at an eye-watering $433,000!
To justify its price, the Wii Supreme is coated in 2.5. kilograms of 22 karat gold and has 78 flawless diamonds decorating its outer shell.
Apart from the flashy gold and diamonds, it’s just a bog-standard Nintendo Wii.
However, it’s also the rarest video game console in the world, so that’s got to push the price up a bit!
Summary
We hope you enjoyed our list of the 15 rarest video game consoles.
Crazy, right?! $433,000 for a game console.
But, it certainly appealed to someone and is more than likely sitting pretty in a nice display cabinet in a games room somewhere in the world.
