The albums Take Me Home, Midnight Memories, Four, and Made in the A.M. were all commercial successes, debuting at number one on the charts. At the same time, Harry Styles wrote “Just a Little Bit of Your Heart” for Ariana Grande’s My Everything album. However, in 2016, the group went on an indefinite hiatus at the suggestion of Styles, who didn’t want to “exhaust” the group’s fan base. During his time in the ring, Benn boasted an 83.3% knockout-to-win rate and began a 22-match winning streak as soon as he turned professional. Although he has been out of the ring for over two decades, Benn has leveraged his wealth and fame to support others through charity work.

- Nigel Benn joined the Army in 1982 and was stationed in West Germany for three years.
- In 1987, Benn started his professional boxing career, winning his first match against Graeme Ahmed.
- Benn won his first title, the Commonwealth middleweight title, in 1988.

- Benn fought his last match in 1996 against Steve Collins but lost after six rounds.
Before Wealth & Fame
Nigel Gregory Benn was born January 22, 1964, in Ilford, East London, England.
While little is known about his childhood, we do know that he joined the army at the age of 18 and was stationed in West Germany and Northern Ireland. After leaving the military, Benn joined the West Ham Amateur Boxing Club to train, later winning the 1986 Amateur Boxing Association Middleweight Champion title.
Benn remained wholly dedicated to becoming the best fighter he could, taking success lessons from Floyd Mayweather and ensuring that he would never give up.
Boxing Career
Nigel Benn became a professional boxer in 1987, kicking off a 22-match winning streak that wouldn’t be broken until 1989. During this streak, he won the Commonwealth middleweight title in 1988 and successfully retained it for over a year until he lost it to Michael Watson.
However, after his loss to Watson, Benn won five more matches, including the WBO middleweight title in 1990, before losing again, this time to Chris Eubank. Fortunately, his loss was only a minor setback, and he went on to start another winning streak, which lasted for 15 matches from April 1991 to March 1996.
During this time, Benn won the WBC super middleweight title in 1992 and retained it until his next loss against Thulani Malinga in 1996. Sadly, this loss would be followed by two more, both against Steve Collins, after which Benn opted to retire from the ring.
That said, he was ready to make a comeback in 2019 at the age of 55, and he was set to fight the middleweight world champion Sakio Bika. While the British Boxing Board of Control refused to sanction the fight, the British and Irish Boxing Authority did. However, the match was ultimately called off after Benn suffered a shoulder injury.
Since then, Benn has stated that he has abandoned his planned comeback, and no further mentions of it have been made.

One of his earliest recorded fight purses, Benn earned $400,000 for fighting Iran Barkley. For his 1990 match against Chris Eubank, Benn earned £400,000 ($448,000), despite losing the match. According to reports, he earned just £35,000 ($53,000) for the 1993 rematch. Benn revealed that he was set for a third match against Eubank, but the other boxer refused despite investors offering $11 million in potential prize money. His highest recorded payday was against Gerald McClellan in 1995, earning him £700,000 ($1.1 million).
Unfortunately, this is the full extent of his publicly disclosed fight pay. However, some reports suggest that he earned an estimated total of $25 million during his career. After retiring, Benn started DJing and has performed at numerous high-profile events, which have helped supplement his wealth. Benn also starred in the first season of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here, on ITV, which earned him additional income.
Nigel Benn might not have earned as much as Miguel Cotto during his career, but he has done extremely well for himself as one of the heaviest hitters in the ring.
Personal Life
Nigel Benn married Caroline Jackson in 1996, and together they have seven children: Conor, Rene, Sade, Dominic, Layla, Harley, and India. Two of his sons have followed in their father’s footsteps, with Conor currently competing as a welterweight boxer who turned professional in 2016 and Harley, a middleweight boxer who turned professional in 2017.

Total Career Earnings: | $477,590,000 |
During his time in the ring, Manny Pacquiao was one of the highest-paid athletes in the world, with a net worth comparable to that of LeBron James and Phil Mickelson. From the fights mentioned in the table, he earned at least $477 million. However, this only accounts for less than 50% of his fights. When considering his lesser-known paydays, particularly earlier in his career, his total earnings are reportedly closer to $600 million.
Early Fight Purses
In the earlier stages of his career, Pacquiao earned less than six figures per fight, with his 2001 breakthrough bout in the United States against Lehlo Ledwaba earning him just $40,000. When he fought Marco Antonio Barrera in 2003, his purse increased substantially to $500,000.
This led to a string of seven-figure paydays in the 2000s, including his two bouts with Erik Morales, which earned him $2 million and $3 million, respectively. He also received $1 million in 2006 for fighting Oscar Larious, and $2 million the following year for his fight with Jorge Solis.
Juan Manuel Marquez Tetralogy Earnings
Throughout his professional career, Manny Pacquiao fought Juan Manuel Marquez a total of four times. When they fought for the first time in 2004, Pacquiao earned approximately $1.05 million. Their second fight occurred in 2008, earning him a guaranteed $3 million. It’s unclear whether he also received a percentage of the PPV.
Things ramped up for the final two fights, earning Manny a total of $27 million for the 2011 bout, and an estimated $30 million for the 2012 event. For the latter, he was reportedly guaranteed $8.6 million, but after including his PPV shares, Forbes estimated the total to be somewhere between $25 million and $30 million. This would bring Pacquiao’s total earnings from all four fights with Marquez to approximately $61 million.
Peak Career Earnings
By the late 2000s, Pacquiao had already begun earning eight figures per fight, including a $11 million purse against Oscar De La Hoya in 2008. The following year, he received a combined $47 million from two fights. The first was a $12 million payday for defeating Ricky Hatton, and the second was an impressive $35 million for winning the WBO Diamond Welterweight belt and WBO World Welterweight belt against Miguel Cotto.
Pacquiao continued to earn multiple $20 million and $30 million paychecks in the 2010s, plus a $35 million payday against Antonio Margarito in 2010. He also earned $20 million against Shane Mosley (2011), $30 million against Brandon Rios (2013), and $20 million against Chris Algieri (2014).
Timothy Bradley Jr. Trilogy Earnings
Pacquiao fought Timothy Bradley Jr. three times. According to reports, he earned $20 million each for the first two bouts in 2012 and 2014. For the final fight in 2016, Manny’s purse reportedly increased to an estimated $33 million, but some reports suggest he earned only $22.5 million. The actual number is likely to fall somewhere between the two. This brings his total earnings from the trilogy to approximately $73 million at most.
Floyd Mayweather Jr. Fight Purse
In 2015, Pacquiao had the most lucrative fight of his career, facing off against Floyd Mayweather Jr. The estimates of his earnings from the fight seem to differ depending on the source, but Forbes suggested that Manny earned between $125 million and $130 million in total, with Mayweather earning upwards of $200 million.

Pacquiao has had two mansions built in his hometown of General Santos, both of which are designed for luxury. The first is a two-story Mediterranean-style home with seven bedrooms, built on a 2,300 sqft lot, and the second is a contemporary White House.
Pacquiao also has a home in Sarangani, where he served as a congressman, and this home is a 14-bedroom beach house with stunning seaside views built in the middle of a marine sanctuary.
Jinkee Pacquiao is also not afraid to flaunt her husband’s wealth and has become known as a fashionista, often using her official Instagram account to showcase her style. Mrs. Pacquiao has been known to showcase some of the most expensive handbag brands in the world, including a $71,000 Birkin Noir Black Crocodile Porosus Lisse in gold, as well as numerous pieces from Louis Vuitton, Fendi, and other high-end designer brands.

Total Career Earnings: | $443,600,000 |
Throughout Mike Tyson’s professional boxing career, he secured at least $445 million in fight earnings. He fought a total of 57 times, accumulating a substantial amount of money in the process. While the table above shows his fight purses for 36 of those fights, many of his earnings between 1985 and 1986 aren’t included. It’s assumed that for 1986 at least, he earned roughly $200,000 per fight. This is because his earnings for three fights that year, against Jesse Ferguson and Mitch Green (twice), were all reportedly $200,000 per fight. Towards the end of the year, he earned $1.5 million for his fight against Trevor Berbick, which was shown on ESPN.
In 1987, Tyson fought four times, earning a combined $9.5 million. These bouts were covered under his eight-fight, $27 million contract with HBO. This included $2 million against James Smith, and $2.5 million apiece for his bouts against Pinklon Smith, Tony Tucker, and Tyrell Biggs.
Tyson’s earnings began increasing significantly in 1998, starting with his $5 million purse for his fight against Larry Holmes. He then earned $10 million against Tony Tubbs and an impressive $20 million against Michael Spinks.
Bruno, Holyfield & Ruddick Fight Purses
We grouped these three opponents together because they were the only three that Tyson fought twice. They account for $114 million of Mike’s career earnings.
Frank Bruno – $38 million
When Iron Mike first fought Frank Bruno in 1989, he earned approximately $8 million. For their 1996 rematch, he earned a whopping $30 million, bringing his total to a combined $38 million.
Donovan Ruddick – $16 million
In 1991, Tyson fought Donovan Ruddick, earning $6 million. Two years later, he earned an increased purse of $10 million, totaling $16 million for the two bouts.
Evander Holyfield – $60 million
The fights against Evander Holyfield were the most controversial of his career, primarily due to Tyson biting Holyfield’s ear in the second bout. For each fight, Mike received a $30 million purse, totaling $60 million.
Significant Fight Purses
We’ve covered Tyson’s early career fight purses and his earnings from recurring opponents, so let’s take a look at the largest paydays of his career. In 1995, Tyson secured $25 million in his fight against Peter McNeeley and a $10 million purse against Buster Mathis. The following year, he earned an impressive $30 million for his win against Bruce Seldon.
Between 1999 and 2000, Mike received a combined $47 million from five fights, including three $10 million paydays against Francois Botha, Julius Francis, and Andrzej Golota. The remainder was generated through a $9 million purse against Orlin Norris and $8 million against Lou Savarese.
However, none of these compares to his 2002 fight against Lennox Lewis. The fight was one of the highest-grossing events at the time, generating $106.9 million in PPV revenue. Tyson secured a guaranteed $17.5 million purse, but he also received additional income from PPV shares and sponsorships, which skyrocketed his total earnings to an estimated $103 million.
Extravagant Expenditure
Throughout his professional career, Tyson spent his wealth with ease, which led to significant financial hardships in the early 2000s. This included spending millions on luxury cars and mansions, as most athletes do. According to the bankruptcy filing, in just a three-year period after his release from prison, he spent a reported $4.5 million on 19 vehicles, which he purchased for his friends.
In that same period, he also spent millions on the following:
- Pigeons & tigers – $400,000
- Garden maintenance & lawn care – $300,000
- Phones, pagers, and related monthly bills – $230,000
- Animal trainer – $125,000/year
- Jewelry & Clothes – $100,000/month
- Random everyday purchases – $240,000/month
This, including the $4.5 million on vehicles, would equate to a total expenditure of just over $18 million in three years, but that’s just for the expenses listed in the filing.
Random Expenses
Outside of his typical expenses for gardening, animals, fashion, and vehicles, Tyson made several notable purchases exceeding $100,000. He reportedly once spent $2 million on a golden bathtub for his then-wife, Robin Givens, but some sources suggest the actual amount was closer to $500,000. Tyson also spent $400,000 on a single birthday party, and his Bengal tigers cost $70,000 each.
Car Collection
While you may think $4.5 million for 19 vehicles is a lot of money, Tyson reportedly purchased over 100 cars throughout his life, including numerous Bentleys, Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Porsches, and Rolls-Royces. He once spent $1.5 million in a single day to purchase five Bentley Azures. Here’s a list of some of the vehicles Mike Tyson owned, and their respective MSRPs at the time:
