Introduction

Roger Federer is a Swiss former professional tennis player with an estimated net worth of $550 Million.

We have examined various revenue streams based on Roger Federer’s professional tennis career earnings, his line of branded sporting goods, endorsement deals from well-paying brands like Mercedes Benz, Rolex, and Credit Suisse, the Japanese apparel brand Uniqlo, Rolex, and a whole host of other off-court sponsorships and endorsement deals. Mercedes Benz recently re-signed Federer in a new record brand ambassador deal.

Not to mention the enormous prize payouts from winning the Wimbledon tournament and other major titles. With an average winner’s payout of nearly $2.5 million per tournament and 20 grand slam titles in the bag, his prize money from Grand Slams alone is somewhere in the region of $50 million.

Who is Roger Federer?

Probably one of the most popular, well-liked athletes not just in tennis but in any sport worldwide, Roger Federer has enjoyed a glittering career in which he has won an incredible 20 major titles – the most in history for a male player.

If that doesn’t strike you as remarkable, consider this: most of the most talented, internationally famous tennis players in the sport have failed to win one major title. This guy has won 20.

Now arguably the wealthiest tennis player ever to grace the sport, Federer is also a dedicated philanthropist, creating the Roger Federer Foundation in 2003, along with numerous charity appearances and events.

Following Roger Federer’s emotional farewell after the Laver Cup 2022, he will now focus on the Roger Federer Foundation and occasional post-retirement exhibition matches. Tennis fans can see this wonderful player grace the court once in a while if his ongoing knee injury allows it.

Roger Federer’s retirement comes in the same year as two other tennis greats – Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic – are also considering retirement after equally impressive careers.

But who is Roger Federer exactly? Through this post, we will look at Roger Federer’s career earnings, his early life, how Federer earned such a staggering fortune, and his plans for the future.

Early Life

Roger Federer was born in Basel, Switzerland, on August 8, 1981, to a South African mother, Lynette Du Rand, and a Swiss father, Robert Federer. During a tour of a pharmaceutical company where they both worked, Federer’s parents happened to cross paths, eventually fell in love, and ultimately conceived the greatest tennis player the world has ever seen. Thank god for pharmaceutical company tours!

Tennis and soccer were among the first sports Federer played when he was eight years old, but with a natural flare for tennis, that is what he focused on, and by the age of just 11 years, he was one of Switzerland’s top three junior tennis players.

At 12, he decided to give up other sports and devote himself solely to tennis. By 14, he was utterly engrossed in the sport, participating in two or three competitions each month, spending six hours a week on practice, plus up to three hours on conditioning. To hone his technique, he frequently imitated Stefan Edberg and Boris Becker, two of his sporting heroes.

Federer spent most of his early life near the French and German border, which made him fluent in German, French, and English.

Career

Roger Federer is considered by all tennis fans one of the top three all-time greats and is constantly mentioned in the ‘GOAT debate,’ along with Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic. The ‘big three’ of tennis had a similar career trajectory through the early naughties, but it was Roger Federer who demonstrated the earliest promise as a future superstar, eventually cementing himself as the greatest player in tennis history.

After turning professional, his first match was against Lucas Arnold Ker in Gstaad, Switzerland, which he ultimately lost. Though he had already established himself in amateur tennis, replicating the same success professionally required dedication and patience – something young Federer had an abundance of.

Regular and consistent victories began to blossom, and Federer won a host of ATP events before finding early success at the French Open and Wimbledon, reaching the quarter-finals in both tournaments.

In 2002, he leveled up his performance and displayed exceptional skills and talent for the game, getting better with each passing game. He bettered his own record by finishing the year at no.6 in the ATP ranking.

Federer bettered his performance at the 2009 Grand Slams, wherein he reached the final of all four, beating Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic along the way, winning the French Open and Wimbledon. He created history by winning his first-ever French Open thus completing a career Grand Slam.

In the 2012 Grand Slams, he won the Wimbledon defeating Andy Murraypossibly helped out by a third-round upset in which Rafael Nadal suffered a shock defeat. He also participated in the various other international games including, Davis Cup representing Switzerland, and the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament.

Since those early years of success, Roger Federer has consistently won Grand Slam titles every year until his retirement at age 40 (after suffering a persistent knee injury) and amassed a staggering range of lucrative sponsors, including a yearly $5 million Mercedes Benz deal, amongst others. He has recently insisted that some of his sponsor money (such as a lucrative Credit Suisse deal) go directly to his charity foundation.

Highlights

Here are some of the best highlights of Roger Federer’s career:

  • Best International Athlete ESPY Award (2007)
  • Best Male Tennis Award (2017, 2018, 2019)
  • 103 ATP titles
  • 20 grand Slam titles
  • 28 ATP Masters titles
  • Oldest ever winner of Open Era

Summary

Federer is known for his prompt speed, fluid play, and exceptional shot-making. He holds a record of being the only player to hold the no. 1 position for 302 weeks overall, out of which 237 weeks were for a stretch from 2004 until 2008

Introduction

Draymond Green is an American professional NBA player for the Golden State Warriors, with an estimated net worth of $90 Million.

Green has played in the league for 12 seasons, earning almost $178 million in salary. Throughout his career, Draymond has gained a reputation for being one of the most, shall we say, aggressive players in professional basketball. Because of this, he’s also one of the highest-fined players in the league, having paid an estimated $3.2 million in fines.

Despite Green’s remarks about the “NBA not being set up to make us wealthy,” his earnings and estimated net worth suggest otherwise. Still playing for the Warriors, Draymond recently signed a four-year, $100 million contract with an average annual salary of $25 million. His high net worth reflects his impressive salary and earnings from endorsement deals with brands such as Nike, Converse, and Beats by Dre.

Early Life

Draymond Jamal Green was born on the 4th of March, 1990, in Michigan.

Green stayed with his mother after her divorce and is very close to her.

He has two brothers, Torrian Harris and Braylon Green, and three sisters, LaToya Barbers, Jordan Davis, and Gabby Davis. Torrian Harris played basketball for Nebraska-Omaha from 2009 to 2011.

Professional Basketball Career

Draymond Green began his basketball career under coach Tom Izzo, assisting Michigan State in winning the Big Ten tournament in 2012. Later that year, the Golden State Warriors selected him 35th overall in the NBA Draft, joining Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson.

He made his NBA debut for the Golden State Warriors and, with Klay Thompson and Andre Iguodala, won his first NBA title with the Warriors.

Green was named to the All-Defensive First Team and was selected to play in his first NBA All-Star Game, joining All-Stars like LeBron James and Kevin Durant.

Green’s Complicated Warriors Legacy

In 2015, he was integral to the Warriors’ small-ball “Death Lineup” alongside Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Andre Iguodala, and Harrison Barnes.

Playing beside teammates Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Kevin Durant, he won his second NBA championship in 2017, marking a substantial milestone in his career.

While John Wall led the league in steals per game, Draymond was crowned NBA Defensive Player of the Year and led the NBA in steals. He continued to play for the Golden State Warriors, where he won his third NBA championship alongside Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant.

In 2018, Green was suspended for one game with the Golden State Warriors for a heated argument with teammate Kevin Durant.

From COVID To Career High

Shortly after, in the NBA Finals against the Toronto Raptors, he recorded a triple-double and inked a four-year, $100 million contract deal with the Warriors. Unfortunately, not long after he signed with the Warriors, he missed most of training camp after testing positive for COVID-19.

After recovering, Green recorded a career-high 19 assists against the Charlotte Hornets in 2021, facing off against Gordon Hayward and Terry Rozier. That same year, he passed Michael Jordan for 17th place in career triple-doubles and won his fourth NBA title.

In 2022, Draymond was selected to his fourth NBA All-Star Game and named to the NBA All-Defensive Second Team.

From Winning Gold To NBA Suspensions

The Warriors fined him for an altercation with teammate Jordan Poole and suspended him for one game for stomping on Domantas Sabonis’ chest. To exacerbate the situation, Green was given a five-game suspension for choking Rudy Gobert and an indefinite suspension by the NBA for hitting Jusuf Nurkić.

While competing alongside NBA players Damian Lillard and Kevin Durant, Green won gold medals for Team USA at the Olympics in Rio and Tokyo. Green was an essential club member in both competitions, serving as a playmaker and adaptable defense, which helped the team win.

In February 2018, the NBA fined Green $50,000 for using inappropriate and offensive language with referee Lauren Holtkamp after the Warriors’ 125-105 defeat to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Thus far in his NBA career, Draymond Green has earned $177.9 million, with another $78 million guaranteed in the next three years.

Endorsements

In addition to shoe deals, Green has worked with multiple brand sponsors, including the likes of:

  • Beats by Dre
  • Kia
  • Major League Fantasy
  • AT&T
  • Survey Monkey

He would work with the brand again in 2019, promoting their Powerbeats Pro. Other stars to be included in the commercial were James Harden, Jayson Tatum, and Anthony Davis.

Estimated Net Worth

Professional Basketball Career

NBA superstar Kawhi Leonard is widely recognized for his clutch plays, superb defense, and winning two MVP titles in the Finals with two separate squads.

Leonard was drafted 15th overall in 2011, selected by the Indiana Pacers, and traded to the Antonia Spurs on draft night. In the same draft class, the Cleveland Cavaliers selected Kyrie Irving first overall, and the Timberwolves selected Derrick Williams second overall.

Kawhi made his professional debut for the San Antonio Spurs on December 26, 2011, and earned a spot on the NBA All-Rookie First Team.

From Rising Star To Finals MVP

Leonard was named to the NBA All-First First Team a year later, joining players Kyrie Irving, Klay Thompson, and Kenneth Faried.

In 2013, he played in his first NBA Finals against the Miami Heat, challenging Miami players LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, and Mario Chalmers.

While with the San Antonio Spurs, Leonard won his first NBA Championship, and then, to top off a remarkable campaign, he was named Finals MVP. He also won his first NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award in 2015 due to his ability to dominate both ends of the court.

Kawhi made NBA history by earning Defensive Player of the Year for the second time, defeating competitor Draymond Green of the Warriors in the process.

In 2016, he was selected as a starter for the Western Conference All-Star Team, joining legend Kobe Bryant and stars Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant.

The following year, he played against the Phoenix Suns, scoring 38 points and coming out victorious while competing against Eric Bledsoe and Devin Booker.

Leading The Raptors To Championship Glory

Kawhi was named to the All-NBA First Team for three consecutive years with James Harden, LeBron James, and Giannis Antetokounmpo. After Leonard’s injury changed the series, the San Antonio Spurs lost to the Golden State Warriors in the 2017 Western Conference Finals.

His injury caused tension with the Spurs because he missed most of the season, and in 2018, he was traded to the Toronto Raptors.

In his debut for the Raptors, Leonard was impressed with his double-double performance, scoring 24 points and showcasing his immediate impact on his new team.

He beat Donovan Mitchell and Ricky Rubio when he scored a career-high 45 points against the Utah Jazz, leading the Toronto Raptors to victory.

In 2019, he hit an iconic Game 7 buzzer-beater against the Philadelphia 76ers to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals. With remarkable performances in the playoffs and Finals, Kawhi earned his second MVP award while leading the Toronto Raptors to their first NBA championship.

Redefining The Clippers’ Identity

Following an exceptional championship run with the Toronto Raptors, he created waves in the NBA in 2019 by signing with the Los Angeles Clippers.

In his Clippers debut, he scored thirty points and was chosen as the NBA All-Star Game MVP while competing against James Harden and Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Leonard led the Los Angeles Clippers to the playoffs during the NBA Bubble with Paul George and earned his first triple-double against the Miami Heat.

Furthermore, he scored a season-high 43 points against the Cleveland Cavaliers and dominated in back-to-back playoff series against the Dallas Mavericks.

Although he suffered a knee injury in 2021, ruling him out for the remainder of the playoffs, he re-signed a four-year contract with the Clippers. He is regarded as one of the greatest players in NBA history and was selected for the NBA 75th Anniversary Team in 2021.

In 2011, Kawhi Leonard signed a four-year rookie contract worth $8.3 million with the San Antonio Spurs. The deal was initially guaranteed for $3.2 million at signing and was fully guaranteed overall. Leonard earned $1.4 million in his first NBA season, and his salary gradually increased, earning $1.8 million in 2012, $1.9 million in 2013, and $2.9 million in 2014.

In 2015, he signed the maximum five-year rookie extension worth $94.3 million with San Antonio. The deal increased his average annual salary from $2.1 million to $18.9 million.

Kawhi played three more seasons with the Spurs before being traded to the Toronto Raptors in 2018. He earned $20.1 million in 2018 with the Raptors before signing a three-year contract with the LA Clippers worth $103.1 million.

Leonard earned $67 million under the deal before the final year was voided, allowing him to negotiate a new deal with the Clippers. This time around, he signed a four-year contract worth $176.3 million. He played for three years on the deal, earning $127.5 million, before voiding the final year of the contract and signing his new and current active contract.

Kawhi Leonard’s current contract is a three-year extension with the Clippers valued at $149.7 million. He’s estimated to earn $49.4 million for the 2024/25 season and will still be guaranteed a further $100.3 million over the two years after that.

Thus far in his NBA career, Kawhi Leonard has earned $276.6 million, with an additional $149 million in guarantees. He should reach $426 million in total earnings by 2026.

Endorsements

Kawhi Leonard signed an endorsement deal with New Balance in 2018 after leaving his previous sponsor, Nike’s Jordan Brand. This deal marked New Balance’s re-entry into the basketball market with Leonard’s signature shoe line, the OMN1S, released in 2019.

His annual earnings from New Balance are estimated to be slightly more than the reported four-year, $22 million deal extension ($5.5 million annually) he turned down from the Jordan Brand. His Jordan contract, which started in 2013, was worth approximately $500,000 per year, significantly lower than his current deal with New Balance.

Leveraging his “Fun Guy” persona and low-key demeanor, his New Balance OMN1S “Reign” colorway was the first of seven designs released in 2019 and retailed at $140.

According to Forbes, Leonard’s 2022 endorsement contracts were worth more than $6 million, leading us to believe that his New Balance contracts make up most of his sponsorship earnings. His endorsement earnings have since risen to over $8 million in 2024.

In 2014, he partnered with Wingstop, becoming one of the first NBA players to endorse the fast-food chain. Leonard was also featured in several promotional campaigns, including a commercial with Arnold Schwarzenegger for “Terminator: Dark Fate” in 2019.

Leonard signed a deal with CargoJet, the Canadian air cargo company, in 2020 following his 2019 championship win with the Toronto Raptors. The same year, while at the San Antonio Spurs, Leonard became an ambassador for the discount browser extension Honey and partnered with the BBVA banking group.

Shortly after, in 2021, he joined the energy drink company X2 Performance as an investor and brand ambassador. Like Jayson Tatum, he has deals with Subway and Hyundai.
