Mirko Filipović joined the ranks of professional MMA fighting in 2001 and won seven of his first 10 matches before being handed his first loss in 2003 by Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira.

Cro Cop made his way through the Pride Fighting Championship ranks, though he would lose to Fedor Emelianenko during his chance at the heavyweight championship in 2005’s Fight of the Year.

In 2006, he wrapped up his time with Pride Fighting Championship by defeating Wandelei Silva and Josh Barnett, then turned to Dana White and Ultimate Fighting Championship and defeated Eddie Sanchez in his debut.

Cro Cop took on the likes of Frank Mir, Brendan Schaub, and Junior dos Santos while with the UFC, though he would drop each of those matches.
