Evan Fournier Facts

  • Evan Fournier started his professional career in 2009 as a member of the French basketball team JSF Nanterre.
  • He was drafted by the Denver Nuggets in 2012 as their 20th overall pick.
  • At the European Basketball Championship in 2015, he won a bronze medal for France.

  • Fournier was traded to the New York Knicks in 2021, where he broke the team’s record for the most three-pointers made in a single season.

Early Life

Evan Mehdi Fournier was born October 29, 1992, in Saint-Maurice, Val-de-Marne, France, a small suburb just outside of Paris.

He became inspired to play basketball after watching the Sacramento Kings play, and in 2009 he started his professional career in France by signing a one-year contract with JSF Nanterre of the LNB Pro B, the French men’s 2nd-tier league.

In 2010 he signed a two-year deal with the Poitiers Basket 86 of the LNB Pro A, the top-tier French league in the country.

However, once his two years with the French league were over, he set his sights on going professional in the NBA and decided to declare himself for the 2012 NBA draft.

Evan Fournier was selected by the Denver Nuggets as their 20th overall pick, and he joined them for the 2012 NBA Summer League.

While his first season wasn’t his best, during his second season with the Nuggets, he ended up scoring a then career-high 27 points during a game against the Sacramento Kings, the same team that had inspired him to play.

In 2014, Fournier was traded to the Orlando Magic, and during his debut season with them, he topped his career-high by scoring 28 points during a match against the New York Knicks.

He signed a five-year contract with the Orlando Magic in 2016 and, soon after, scored a season-high 28 points, this time in another game against the Sacramento Kings.

Fournier scored his career-high 32 points in a 100-96 win against Golden State in 2019, but in March of 2021, he was traded to the Boston Celtics.

However, his season with the Celtics didn’t last long, and in August 2021, his rights were acquired by the New York Knicks, who he continues to play for.

In 2022 he surpassed his previous career-high, scoring an incredible 41 points in a 108-104 victory against the Celtics.

The same year, he also broke the New York Knicks’ record for the most three-pointers in a season, surpassing the original record set by John Starks in 1995.

Evan Fournier’s Career Earnings

Evan Fournier may not be as wealthy as Larry Bird or Derrick Rose, but he has certainly earned a significant amount of money during his professional career.

As he continues to play, we expect to see his annual salary continue increasing as his overall desirability grows larger.

  • As a member of the Denver Nuggets from 2012 to 2015, Fournier earned an estimated salary of $1.6 million.
  • From 2016 to 2020, as a member of the Orlando Magic, Fournier’s annual salary climbed to $17 million per year.
  • His current four-year contract with the New York Knicks includes an annual salary of $18.2 million and $73 million guaranteed at signing.

While he isn’t yet one of the richest NBA players in the world, Evan Fournier has certainly made an exceptional net worth, thanks to his skills on the court.

We wholly expect to see his annual salary continue to grow, as well as the overall value of his contracts as his career continues.

Personal Life

While Evan Fournier likes to keep his personal life private, we do know that he is currently married to his wife, Laura, and the couple have a son, Elias, who was born in 2019.

Although Evan sometimes posts pictures of his family on his official Instagram page, he mainly focuses on images from his games and promotional pieces.

He is also active on his official Twitter account, where he keeps fans updated on his career and talks about sports. However, a majority of his posts are in French, and he often posts about the French basketball leagues he started out with.

You can also check out his official NBA page, which lists all of his upcoming and past games, his stats, and any relative news about his career.

Awards & Achievements

Like Victor Oladipo and Damian Lillard, Evan Fournier has earned many awards and honors during his career in professional basketball.

While all of his achievements are important, we’ve chosen to highlight the most prestigious that he has earned during his time on the court.

Here are some of Evan Fournier’s greatest career awards and accomplishments:

  • In 2009, Fournier won silver at the European U18 Championship n France.
  • He won bronze in 2011 at the European U20 Championship in Spain.

  • At the FIBA Basketball World Cup, he won bronze in 2014 and 2019.
  •  Fournier won silver at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, representing France’s National team.

Although these are only a few of his awards and honors, they are the ones that stand out the most for their importance overall.

While he may not be as decorated as Chris Paul or Stephen Curry, he may very well surpass them if he continues playing.

How Does Evan Fournier Spend His Money?

Evan Fournier bought an impressive mansion in Winter Park, Florida, in 2020 for $2.9 million.

The home in question had previously been listed at $3.25 million, but the price has since dropped, making it a perfect investment for the basketball player.

Overlooking Lake Maitland, this mansion is only 15 minutes away from where the Orlando Magic plays, and its 6,384 sqft of living space makes it comfortable and luxurious.

However, since being traded to the New York Knicks, Fournier has since sold the home in 2021 for $2,71 million.

Although we don’t have any information on where he has moved to, New York is full of some of the most expensive penthouses in the world, and we wouldn’t be surprised to learn he has nabbed one.

In any case, living in or near one of the most expensive cities in the US certainly isn’t going to be cheap, and we can easily assume his new home has cost him millions.

Evan Fournier has enjoyed many memorable moments during his career playing for some of the richest NBA teams, but some have stood out more than others.

We have chosen to highlight some of his most important milestones, the ones that have helped him achieve his impressive level of success.

Here are some of the best highlights of Evan Fournier’s career:

  • During his debut with the Knicks in 2021, he tied his career-high 32 points in a 138-134 double-overtime win against his former team, the Boston Celtics.
