Introduction

James Corden is an English professional actor, comedian, and television host with an estimated net worth of $70 Million.

Before Wealth & Fame

Growing up in the small English village of Hazlemere in Buckinghamshire, James Corden wasn’t a top-performing student and preferred being the class clown. He had several jobs before becoming a successful actor and television host. He initially worked in a call center but appeared in several TV commercials and advertisements. Corden almost gave up on the entertainment industry after struggling to get acting work, but stuck it out long enough to land his breakthrough role in Fat Friends.

Television Career

In the late 1990s, James Corden began landing minor recurring roles in British television shows, including Lee in eight episodes of Out of Tune and Gareth Jones in six episodes of Boyz Unlimited. His breakout role came in 2000 when he was cast as Jamie Rymer in the British drama Fat Friends. Corden starred in four of the show’s five seasons, quickly gaining recognition for his quirky comedic personality.

This paved the way for Corden’s most prominent role in British TV. In 2007, he was cast as ‘Smithy’ in the BBC sitcom Gavin & Stacey, which became one of British history’s most popular television series. The show aired for three seasons, with Corden later reprising his role in the 2019 and 2024 special episodes.

Film Career

After Gavin & Stacey’s official 2010 conclusion, James Corden transitioned to film, starring in movies such as Conference of Animals (2010), Gulliver’s Travels (2010), The Three Musketeers (2011), and Begin Again (2013). In recent years, in addition to his prominent work as a host on The Late Late Show, which we’ll get to in a second, Corden has also been heavily involved in voiceover work.

His most notable roles as a voice actor include recurring appearances in the Peter Rabbit and Trolls franchises. He was first cast as Biggie in the 2016 Trolls film, and has since reprised the role four times. This includes his 2017 appearances in the short film, Trolls: Dress Up, and the TV movie, Trolls Holiday. In 2020, he returned as Biggie in Trolls World Tour and in the spinoff, Tiny Diamond Goes Back to School.

Between the Trolls movies, Corden was cast as the titular character in Peter Rabbit (2018), the same year as the release of the short film Flopsy Turvy, and later, Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway (2021). However, this isn’t the full extent of his voiceover work. Other notable mentions include lending his voice to The Emoji Movie (2017), Smallfoot (2018), and 15 episodes of Curious George (2022).

The Late Late Show

In 2014, Craig Ferguson, then host of The Late Late Show, announced his departure from CBS, and the network began looking for a suitable replacement. They were seeking someone who wasn’t a stand-up comedian as such and more of an all-around entertainer, which is where Ben Winston came into the equation. Winston was the executive producer of The Late Late Show and a longtime friend of James Corden. As such, he helped Corden put together a pitch for the network and eventually land the gig.

In 2015, James began hosting The Late Late Show, serving in the role for eight seasons and over a thousand episodes (1042 to be exact) until 2022. Despite already being a successful actor in his own right, hosting The Late Late Show dramatically boosted his star power in the United States.

The Late Late Show Salary

According to reports, when James Corden first began hosting The Late Late Show in 2015, he earned between $4 million and $5 million annually. Since the show typically aired between 140 and 150 episodes per season, and per year, this equates to somewhere between $30,000 and $35,000 per episode.

In 2019, Corden’s contract with CBS came up for renewal, and his annual salary reportedly increased to $9 million/year, or roughly $65,000 per episode. The network also allegedly offered him a $50 million, multi-year contract extension in 2022, which would have been worth an estimated $12 million annually. However, Corden turned down the offer.

If we do some quick math, he likely earned the $4-$5 million sum over four years, totaling between $16 million and $20 million. Next, we have the $9 million/year over four years, totalling $36 million. This should put his combined earnings from all eight seasons somewhere between $52 million and $56 million.

The World’s Best Salary

Corden reportedly earned $350,000 per episode for the CBS reality talent competition The World’s Best, which aired for seven episodes in 2019 and earned him just under $2.5 million. Drew Barrymore also earned $350,000 per episode.

Introduction

David Spade is an American professional comedian, Actor, TV personality, and writer with an estimated net worth of $70 Million.

Quick Facts

  • Earned a peak of $300,000 per episode from Just Shoot Me!
  • Received $150,000 per episode for starring in Rules of Engagement

Just Shoot Me! Salary

In 1997, David Spade was cast as Dennis Finch in the sitcom Just Shoot Me!, marking his first recurring role on television. Spade starred in all seven seasons and 149 episodes of the show. According to reports, he was earning $150,000 per episode in the earlier seasons. By season five, his salary had been increased to $300,000 per episode.

Based on the information above, Spade potentially earned $6.6 million apiece for seasons five and six, followed by $7.2 million for the seventh and final season. Now, assuming that the $150,000-per-episode figure relates to seasons one through four (which is somewhat unlikely), Spade would have earned roughly $12.15 million. This brings his total earnings from Just Shoot Me! to an estimated $32.5 million.

Rules of Engagement Salary

In the late 2000s, Spade secured his iconic role as Russell Dunbar in the sitcom Rules of Engagement. Starring alongside the likes of Patrick Warburton, Megyn Price, Oliver Hudson, and Bianca Kajlich, reports suggest that he earned $150,000 per episode at the peak of the show’s success.

That doesn’t give us a whole lot to go on, especially since there were seven seasons, each varying in length. Season five comprised 24 episodes, which could have earned him $3.6 million, while the final season seven comprised just 13 episodes.

Highest-Grossing Movies

Spade is another of Adam Sandler’s friends who starred in all three Hotel Transylvania films and two Grown Ups films. The Transylvania trilogy comprises his three highest-grossing films, which have totaled $1.36 billion at the box office. Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation grossed the most at the box office, earning $529 million, followed by the second installment at $475 million and the original movie at $358 million.

Fourth on the list was the original Grown Ups film, which grossed $271 million, quickly followed by the sequel, which grossed $247 million.

Since Spade’s most recent films, including The Do-Over (2016), Father of the Year (2018), and The Wrong Missy (2020), have been Netflix exclusives, none have been released in theaters.

Here’s a complete list of David Spade’s ten highest-grossing movies:

  1. Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation – $529 Million (2018)
  2. Hotel Transylvania 2 – $475 Million (2015)
  3. Hotel Transylvania – $358 Million (2012)
  4. Grown Ups – $271 Million (2010)
  5. Grown Ups 2 – $247 Million (2013)
  6. I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry – $187 Million (2007)
  7. The Emperor’s New Groove – $170 Million (2000)
  8. Jack and Jill – $150 Million (2011)
  9. The Rugrats Movie – $141 Million (1998)
  10. Racing Stripes – $91 Million (2005)

Real Estate

Beverly Hills Home

In December 2001, David Spade paid $4 million for a 7,000-square-foot, five-bedroom, seven-bathroom home in Beverly Hills, California. The property features amenities such as a spa, outdoor pool, and fire pits, and appears to have shot up in value since Spade acquired it, thanks to his extensive renovations. It was also in the news in 2017, when burglars broke in and stole a safe containing $80,000 in cash and jewelry.

In January 2022, after more than two decades of ownership, Sapde returned the property to the market, seeking just under $20 million. He closed a $19.5 million deal the following month. Even after accounting for property taxes (which had reached roughly $65,000 per year by the time of the sale) and agent commissions, Spade still likely profited eight figures.

Los Angeles Home

The biggest purchase Spade has ever made when it comes to real estate, both in terms of size and cost, was his 11,300-square-foot mansion in Los Angeles. The comedian paid $13.85 million for the six-bedroom, eleven-bathroom property in October 2021, and still owns it at the time of writing. Additionally, the home features amenities such as an infinity pool, a movie theatre, a sauna, a gym, a 1,200-bottle wine cellar, and walk-in closets.

Newport Beach Home

In December 2023, Spade paid $9.5 million for a newly-built, 3,813-square-foot, four-bedroom, five-bathroom property in Newport Beach, California. David still owns this home, which sits on a 7,500-square-foot lot and features ocean views from the second floor. According to Zillow, it currently has an estimated value of $10.3 million.

He first made the list in 2016, earning an estimated $12.5 million that calendar year (June 2015 to June 2016). At the time, Gaffigan earned the majority of his income from stand-up comedy tours and performances, including the “Contagious” tour, which ran from July to September 2015.

Eric Idle Net Worth

Eric Idle went from a bullied child to becoming one of the most well-known and wealthy British comedians, earning millions from witty scripts.

Introduction

Eric Idle is an English professional actor, comedian, and musician with an estimated net worth of $70 Million.

Idle is best known for his work creating and starring in iconic British sketch comedy shows such as Monty Python and The Two Ronnies

This profile details our research into Eric Idle’s net worth, earnings history, highest-grossing films, and other aspects of his finances.

Quick Facts

  • Earned an estimated $4.5 million in 2006
  • Received just £200 per episode when the Monty Python series first aired

Earnings History

Forbes previously featured Eric Idle on the Forbes Celebrity 100 in 2006, though he shared this spot with his friend and business partner Mike Nichols. According to the publication, Idle and Nichols earned an estimated $9 million between June 2005 and June 2006. The majority of this figure originated from the Broadway musical Spamalot, which grossed approximately $55 million during that same period.

Assuming a 50/50 split, Idle would have earned $4.5 million. As far as we can tell, this is the only time that he’s ever appeared on a Forbes list.

Monty Python Earnings

The iconic Monty Python series was created by a British comedy troupe in the 1960s, comprising Eric Idle, John Cleese, Graham Chapman, Terry Gilliam, Terry Jones, and Michael Palin.

When Monty Python’s Flying Circus TV show first aired on the BBC in 1969, the performers received an estimated £200 per episode, which was roughly $480 at the time. Since they were all co-creators of the show, it’s unclear whether all six members received the same income, regardless of how many episodes they appeared in.

Idle starred in all 45 episodes of the series between 1969 and 1974, which would have amounted to £9,000 ($21,600). After adjusting for inflation, this would equate to roughly $170,000 in today’s currency.

Eventually, the show was picked up by PBS for syndication in the United States, and the cast members began receiving residual payments. They also earned a percentage of the physical VHS/DVD sales. As a result, most of Idle’s income was generated on the backend, well after the show had finished airing. His total compensation from Monty Python has never been publicly confirmed, but Eric could have earned between £5 million and £10 million ($7.5 million and $15 million) in royalties from syndication and physical media.

Additionally, Idle and the rest of the Troupe reportedly earned between £100,000 and £300,000 per Monty Python film, amounting to at least several million dollars in additional earnings. These included:

  • And Now for Something Completely Different (1971)
  • Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975)
  • Monty Python’s Life of Brian (1979)
  • Monty Python Live at the Hollywood Bowl (1982)
  • Monty Python’s The Meaning of Life (1983)

Real Estate

According to public records, Eric Idle paid $1.6 million for a 7,014-square-foot, five-bedroom, six-bathroom home in Los Angeles, California, in April 1993. The property’s architecture resembles a Mexican villa, featuring an outdoor pool, koi pond, spa, and an enormous wine cellar. Idle owned this home for roughly two decades before listing it for $6.5 million in February 2023. He closed a deal a month later at his asking price.

Summary

Monty Python fans will agree that Eric Idle is a legend among television stars. He created a film and a series that pushed the limits with naughty jokes and commentary.

Except for doing covers and some voice work for animations, Eric hasn’t appeared live as much as he used to. But he still makes his presence felt with reruns of his famous comedy films. He currently resides in a luxurious home in Los Angeles, California, where he spends time with his family.
