Early Life

Philipp Lahm was born on the 11th of November, 1983, in Munich, Germany.  Lahm started his career in 1995 when he joined the youth team of a domestic club, FT Gern Munchen.

He had already won 15 caps for his country before his career with Bayern Munich began. At the age of 11, he made his way in the Bayern Munich youth team.

Career

In 2002, Lahm made his debut for the Bayern Munich first team as a 92nd-minute substitute in a 3–3 draw with RC Lens in the group stage of the Champions League.

He returned to Bayern Munich in 2005. However, the torn cruciate ligament he had suffered just before his return forced him to start his professional time in FC Bayern on rehabilitation.

For the 2007 – 08 season, Bayern bought the German international left-back Marcell Jansen and Lahm was supposed to revert to right, both to accommodate Jansen and to replace French right back Willy Sagnol.

Lahm made his 100th UEFA Champions League appearance in a 2–2 draw with Juventus in Turin in 2016. This made him the 28th player to make 100 appearances in the competition and the second German, after former Bayern teammate Oliver Kahn.

He became the 17th player to enter Bayern Munich’s Hall of Fame on 27 May 2017; he won eight Bundesliga titles and the Champions League while playing for the club.

As of 2019, Philipp Lahm’s net worth is $100 Million dollars.

Favorite Quotes from Philipp Lahm

“It’s nice to win by a scoreline like that, but it’s not decisive. It was important to put the title to bed at the first opportunity we had to do so. We wanted to win the league today.” – Philipp Lahm

“We let our hair down! We’ve had a lot of midweek matches where there was nothing to celebrate, so that’s why we celebrated today. If you’ve got something to celebrate, then you should. Last week I said that winning the Bundesliga title isn’t something you can take for granted, and it’s something you should always bear in mind.” – Philipp Lahm

“The first ones are so long ago I can’t even remember them now [laughs]! It was only a matter of time before we sealed the championship after Leipzig’s draw. We only needed to win one of our remaining four games.” – Philipp Lahm

“I can’t remember having done that before. The entire away stand was asking for me to do it, so I had no choice! I don’t enjoy being center stage, but sometimes you just have to do it.” – Philipp Lahm
