Nancy Jean Cartwright was born on the 25th of October, 1957, in Ohio.

Cartwright is the daughter of Frank and Miriam. She grew up in Kettering, Ohio. 

While in the fourth grade at the school of St. Charles Borromeo, she won a school-wide speech competition with her performance of Rudyard Kipling’s How the Camel Got His Hump.

Cartwright graduated from high school in 1976. She started to compete in public speaking competitions. During her sophomore year, she placed 5th in the National Speech Tournament.

In 1982, she debuted the title role of a young girl in the CBS TV biopic ‘Marian Rose White.’

A few years later, a new chapter began in Cartwright’s professional career when she landed the role of the ten-year-old Bart Simpson character, a sharp-tongued mischief-maker for animated segments of The Tracey Ullman Show.

In 1998, Cartwright starred in ‘Godzilla’. She had more small-screen work, and she appeared in several TV movies and guest stars on several series.

She published her autobiography, ‘My Life as a 10-Year-Old Boy’ in 2000. Critics claimed the book was the “ultimate insider’s guide to The Simpsons,” but they also complained that the book lacked interesting stories and was aimed mostly at fans of The Simpsons.

The following year, she founded the production company SportsBlast and created an online animated series called ‘The Kellys.’ The series was focused on racing; Cartwright voices a seven-year-old named Chip Kelly.

In 2002, SportsBlast received a Silver Remi Award from the WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival for ‘The Kellys.’ According to their latest contract, each principal voice actor on The Simpsons makes $300,000 per episode.
