Favorite Stan Wawrinka Quotes

Stan Wawrinka has never been shy to discuss tennis and how he prepares for each match. Wawrinka knows that tennis is just as much about mental ability as it is physical ability.

Because of this, there’s a lot we can learn from Wawrinka. Whether it be tennis, handling your emotions, or taking care of your body, Wawrinka has a lot of wise words.

Here are our favorite quotes from Stan Wawrinka:

  • ” As a tennis player, you have to get used to losing every week. Unless you win the tournament, you always go home as a loser. But you have to take the positive out of a defeat and go back to work. Improve to fail better.” – Stan Wawrinka
  • ” You always need to try hard to find solutions. It’s the same in life or tennis.” – Stan Wawrinka
  • ” I enjoy putting myself in situations where you are nervous, but you need to enjoy yourself also. I’ve done skydiving, bungee jumping. I quite like those sensations – when you feel a little bit nervous and you don’t really know where you are going..” – Stan Wawrinka
  • ” It’s something quite natural for me to go on the court and suffer, and to go in the gym and to suffer, and to know the only way to get better is to work out – that’s what I like.” – Stan Wawrinka
  • ” Tennis is a big puzzle. It’s not any more physical or mental; you have to have all the pieces first, and then you have to put all the pieces together. For me, it took me time.” – Stan Wawrinka

3 Amazing Lessons From Stan Wawrinka

Now that you know all about Stan Wawrinka’s net worth, there are a lot of lessons to be learned from one of professional tennis’s all-time highest earners. He has had a lot to say about life both on and off the court.

Wawrinka has traveled the world and has experience climbing the ranks to become one of the greatest tennis players of not just his country, but his entire generation.

Compared to many other professional tennis players, Wawrinka has had the bulk of his success in the latter part of his career.

Here are some of the best success lessons to learn from Stan Wawrinka:

1. Success Doesn’t Come Instantly

Stan Wawrinka didn’t break into the top 50 until he was in his twenties and didn’t win his first Grand Slam until he was nearly 30 years old, having already suffered a major knee injury.

This is a great lesson for those that think they’re past their prime and too old to achieve greatness.

When Wawrinka won the 2014 Australian Open, some thought it might be just a lucky run. However, Wawrinka would end up winning his second Grand Slam the following year and then did so again a year later.

2. Live Outside Your Comfort Zone

Because of the status quo that we’re expected to be part of on a daily basis, we tend to stick inside our comfort zone in most aspects of life. If it weren’t for his family leaving their comfort zone, Wawrinka may not have ended up as a professional.

Wawrinka was placed into remote learning during his school years, allowing him to continue practicing tennis. Wawrinka has made a living off of leaving his comfort zone and does so while off the court, too.

3. Take Care Of Your Body

You can be naturally skilled at anything, but at some point, your body won’t allow you to be at your best. That’s the reason why many people thought Wawrinka would never win a Grand Slam title when he was 29 years old.

In professional tennis, that’s considered to be quite old, but Wawrinka stayed busy taking care of his body in the gym and practicing on the court. A healthy lifestyle has allowed Wawrinka to have an extended career and has earned him tens of millions of dollars as a result.

Summary

Wawrinka may no longer be a member of the world’s top five tennis players, but he has cemented himself as one of the best players of his generation.

With three Grand Slam titles, Wawrinka is part of a limited number of tennis players that have accomplished that.

Wawrinka has made $35.12 million in career earnings to date, and is also the sixth-highest earner in ATP history behind Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, Andy Murray, and Pete Sampras.

As of April 2024, Stan Wawrinka’s net worth is estimated to be $20 Million.

His early career was highlighted by a split decision win over former Strikeforce and WEC veteran Harris Sarmiento on March 12, 2011, earning himself the lightweight strap for the Hawaii-based X-1 promotion.

Career

With his troubled childhood influencing his decision to pursue a career in combat sports, Max Holloway built upon his kickboxing training as a youth.

He would win several amateur bouts as a teenager, including his debut bout after just three days of heavy training in preparation.

Over the following years, he would compare favorably to some of the richest athletes in the world by delivering a string of championship wins in MMA.

Early MMA Career & UFC Breakthrough

After a successful fighting record as a youth fighter, Max Holloway decided to enter the world of mixed martial arts in 2019 when he was nineteen years old.

He instantly stood out as a fighter to watch, picking up a record of four straight wins and gaining recognition as the seventh-placed featherweight prospect in 2012.

Compared to the likes of Anthony Pettis, he demonstrated a keen ability for bringing together a variety of powerful picks, knees, and elbows.

Holloway then joined the Ultimate Fighting Championship roster later in 2012, debuting against Dustin Poirier before gaining a victory against Pat Schilling.

He would continue to defeat many of his opponents over the following fights, including against Leonard Garcia, Justin Lawrence, and Dennis Bermudez.

Between 2014 and 2018, Max Holloway would enjoy several successful fights in the UFC, establishing a reputation as a brutal and uncompromising combatant.

Many of his victories were accomplished by either a unanimous decision or knockout, with Holloway facing Jose Aldo on several occasions.

He first defeated Aldo in June 2017, then beat him again later that year while defending his championship title and rising through the ranks of the sport.

Holloway would again defend his championship ranking in 2018, defeating Brian Ortega via TKO at the end of the fourth round.

This victory earned Holloway the Performance of the Night and Fight of the Night awards, with the fighter also breaking a new record for MMA.

With 290 strikes in a single fight, a new bar was set for UFC featherweight, significantly raising Holloway’s profile among fans.

2019 Weight Class Transition & Winning Streak

With Holloway receiving high praise from commentators such as Joe Rogan, his career continued to throw up numerous impressive victories.

The exception to the rule – and an ongoing thorn in his side – was Alexander Volkanovski, whom Holloway fought and lost against on three occasions.

The pair would first come into contact with one another in 2019, before once again fighting in 2021, when Holloway lost by unanimous decision.

He enjoyed more success against other opponents such as Calvin Kattar and Yair Rodriguez, earning Fight of the Night for these victories.

DeAndre Hopkins is an American football wide receiver for the NFL’s Tennessee Titans.

The Houston Texans drafted Hopkins in the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft.

He played college football at Clemson.

Early Life

DeAndre Rashaun Hopkins was born on the 6th of June, 1992, in Central South Carolina.

His father, Harris Hopkins, was a full-time drug dealer who was released on probation the night before he had a severe accident that cost him his life.

When it happened, DeAndre was five months old and with his mother in the car.

Only Harris lost his life in the hospital from his injuries, and he was 25 years old.

Career

DeAndre Hopkins’s success in high school as a successful athlete in various sports gave him the necessary experience when he entered college.

His high school football career saw him achieving 57 receptions and 18 touchdowns, with solid performances in basketball and athletics.

During his time at Clemson University, Hopkins would begin to shine, paving the way for him to play with the richest NFL players in his later career.

Early Career In College Football

As a freshman at university, DeAndre Hopkins joined the team as an offensive player in 2010 and began his collegiate career with a victory over North Texas.

Getting off to a promising start, he continued to score touchdowns in a string of games, becoming the team’s leading receiver of 2010.

In 2011, DeAndre Hopkins refined his playing style and continued to enjoy success with multiple receptions in each game.

During the 2012 Orange Bowl, he had ten receptions for 107 receiving yards, finishing second on the team that year.

After making his debut against the San Diego Chargers, he helped his team achieve multiple victories throughout the 2013 season.

By the end of the following year, he had become the leading receiver for the team, continuing his successful streak through to 2015.

Over this season, his usage continued to increase, picking up awards including AFC Player of the Week and breaking new records for the team.

By the season’s close, DeAndre Hopkins had risen to third rank among NFL wide receivers, lagging behind Antonio Brown and Julio Jones.

Hopkins made sporting headlines in 2016 when he was fined for violating footwear rules, with the cleats of his Kanye West Boosts not up to standard.

Late Career With The Houston Texans

Despite his successes in the early seasons with the Houston Texans, Hopkins’ fortunes waned by the end of 2016, with his lowest totals since being a rookie.

Having signed a new five-year contract, he initially struggled to return to form but pulled it back by the end of the season, leading the league.

After becoming the first player in history to lead the league in wide receiver scoring, he was named First-team All-Pro for the 2017 season.

Hopkins also caught the first touchdown pass from quarterback Deshaun Watson, a player who had previously teamed up with Hopkins at Clemens.

Through the 2018 and 2019 seasons, he continued to break personal records, including career-high catches and achieving additional Pro Bowls.

After playing for the Houston Texans for several years, Hopkins played his final season with the team in 2019, which ended with a win against the Bills.

Transition To Arizona Cardinals In 2020

In 2020, DeAndre Hopkins switched his allegiance to the Arizona Cardinals team after being traded in the fourth-round 2020 NFL draft pick.

“No, nothing crazy. Something more scalable, something that women can wear every day. But for all different sizes. I don’t believe stuff should be made for the perfect model. I think that’s where we go wrong right now in this day and age: We make stuff that’s not realistic.” – DeAndre Hopkins

“My mom used to make sure we stayed dressed nicely going to church. And when you’re young, and people compliment you, you want to keep that feeling. You want to keep that vibe, that energy. Because it makes you feel good. And then clothes make you feel good too.” – DeAndre Hopkins

“Of course. You get heat for being pictured, man. That’s crazy. I like it when people show their true colors, though. Like, how do you get mad at somebody for wearing something that’s peaceful?” – DeAndre Hopkins

Dolph also began to work closely with notable stars of the hip-hop community, including the Atlanta trap rapper Gucci Mane on 2013’s East Atlanta Memphis.

2014 Debut Album & Notable Singles

With multiple successful mixtapes under his belt, Young Dolph launched his inevitable debut album to the public in 2016, Kings of Memphis.

An ode to life on the streets of his hometown, the album was released on his independent label, Paper Route Empire, reaching 49th position on the Billboard Charts.

Having previously worked with Rick Ross on the final High Class Street Music release, Dolph’s rapping career was set to reach new heights.

As he enjoyed critical and commercial acclaim for his debut long-player, Dolph was caught up in a feud with rapper Yo Gotti.

The pair released a string of diss tracks between 2016 and 2018, with a shooting incident in 2017 inspiring the EP, Niggas Get Shot Everyday.

With a newfound notoriety in the hip-hop community, Dolph’s profile was raised, paving the way for future releases and his first top-ten album.

Chart Success With The Album Dum & Dummer

The success of his 2017 single “Major” had a profound effect on Young Dolph, who was reportedly offered $22 million for a new record label deal.

He continued to work on many singles and EPs, notably with Lil Durk on the 2018 track “Downfall,” which was featured on the album Signed to the Streets 3.

This was followed by a distribution deal with Empire Distribution, leading to his first major collaborative album, Dum and Dummer, in 2019.

The title, inspired by the comedy movie Dumb and Dumber, reflected the album’s satirical swipe at the rapping community and internal conflicts.

It became the first top-ten album Dolph had worked on to date, with critical praise noting his excellent songwriting range of insights into despair.

Later Works & Posthumous Releases

Following the critical and commercial success of Dum and Dummer, Young Dolph voiced his intention to retire in 2020 to spend time with his family.

At the same time, he released another single, “Sunshine,” while also dropping hints at another upcoming solo album in the pipeline.

This album, Rich Slave, landed in August 2020 and became his highest-charting release, peaking at number four on the Billboard 200 charts.

Young Dolph then returned to collaborate with Key Glock in 2021, working on the anticipated sequel to Dum and Dummer blending collaborations and solo songs.

Upon its release, Dum and Dummer 2 earned strong praise from music critics for its blend of pop music sensibilities with casual rapping.

Following the tragic death of Young Dolph in 2021, a posthumous album featuring some of his previously unreleased tracks was released to honor his legacy.

The album, Long Live Young Dolph, featured the single “LLD (Long Live Dolph)” and featured guest appearances from many of his associates.
