This was the record until 2002 when Kelsey Grammer’s Frasier won its 30th Emmy during its 10th season.

Mary Tyler Moore hosted the CBS special How to Survive the ‘70s and Maybe Even Bump Into Happiness in 1978. 

On this show, she had several prominent guest stars, including John Ritter, Dick Van Dyke, Harvey Korman, and Bill Bixby.  

Following that, she hosted Mary, a comedy variety show, with David Letterman and Michael Keaton as supporting cast members. 

After Mary was canceled, CBS brought Moore back with The Mary Tyler Moore Hour, though it lasted only 11 episodes. 

During the 1985-85 season, CBS launched the sitcom Mary, but Moore asked the network to cancel it because she was unhappy with the direction. 

Moore then starred in the short-lived Annie McGuire and was cast in New York News, but she was disappointed with her character’s writing. 

In the mid-1990s, she appeared in two episodes of Ellen and later guest-starred on Ellen DeGeneres’s The Ellen Show in 2001. 

She reunited with the Dick Van Dyke Show cast in 2004 for The Dick Van Dyke Show Revisited reunion special.

In 2006, Mary Tyler Moore guest-starred in three episodes of That ‘70s Show with Ashton Kutcher and appeared on Hot in Cleveland in 2011. 

Moore began her film career in 1961, appearing in X-15, but in the early 2000s, she only appeared in three movies. 

These were Labor Pains, Cheats, and Against the Current, an American drama that would be her last film appearance. 

In 2009, she published her second memoir, Growing Up Again: Life, Loves, and Oh Yeah, Diabetes, which focused on her struggles with type 1 diabetes. 

Following her appearance in Against The Current, she underwent surgery to remove a benign brain tumor, and by 2014 was nearly blind.
