“My interest in life comes from setting myself a huge, apparently un-achievable challenges and trying to rise above them.” – Sir Richard Branson
What do you think about that mindset? And how often do you think like Sir Richard Branson?
Well, you’re not alone.
When I looked upon myself a decade ago, I saw this frightened college girl, with too many unclear dreams in her head and none of them being achieved in reality.
I was afraid of everything you are/were afraid of:
- Other’s people judgement
- Especially of my father’s judgement
- Living a mediocre boring ‘9 to 5’ kinda life
And I had so many ideas on how to overcome those fears, I spent hours talking about them with my friends in between study rooms and bars. But I DID NOTHING to achieve those ideas and dreams.
It took me many years to develop the right mindset to stop fearing my own shadow, get my butt off the couch and actually do, what I came in this world to do.
I want to save you some time and help you discover and use the right strategy for achieving the right mindset for success. In any area of life too: relationships, career, healthy lifestyle, fit body etc.
3 Benefits of Having the Right Mindset for Success
I know many of you have maybe read a lot of simple strategies on how to transform your life. However many of those strategies were only read but not actually used. So, if you have to use only one strategy, this would be it.
Not because I’m writing these words, and certainly not because I invented it, but because the right mindset will give you three wonderful benefits in the end.
These benefits are:
If you use this strategy it will give you the courage to dream big and, not only to consider achieving your big goals in life but also to act upon them right away.
With consistent use of the right mindset, you’ll wake up one day realizing that you are unstoppable. You will find out that you don’t lack motivation or inspiration to achieve what you want; no matter what the obstacles are on the way to it.
3. Inner Strength
You know how we always rely on other people to pick us up when we fall? To give us support to achieve our dreams? And when they don’t, for whatever reason, we feel helpless?
Well, the right mindset will put the end to this. It will give you the inner strength to move you forward.
At least that’s what happened to me. I didn’t even realize it until one journalist asked me a question during an interview.
She: Who is your greatest support in life?
Me: Me! I give myself all the support I need to achieve whatever I lay my thoughts on.
Imagine my surprise, when the sentence came out of my mouth. It was beautifully shocking to both – me and the journalist.
Of course, this doesn’t mean your loved ones shouldn’t support you. You will, however, no longer be addicted to the support of others. Instead, you’ll have your own back whenever you need it, and the support of others will only be an additional advantage.
3 Steps to Adopting the Right Mindset to Achieve Success
Please don’t mistake these simple steps as something that is really easy to do from day to day.
Although it is a simple strategy which will help you to take control over your own life, it has to be practiced in order to work for you.
Step 1. Be mindful about words (and thoughts) that sabotage you daily
“I can’t find a job.”
“I can’t travel (for whatever reason).”
“I just can’t lose weight.”
Does this seem familiar?
Henry Ford once said:
“Whether you think you can’t or you can you are right.”
And he was right. Every time you tell yourself that you cannot do something, you’re telling yourself a limiting story that prevents you from living the life you deserve.
Stories we tell ourselves will determine the life we live. And if you repeatedly insist on this limiting “I can’t” story, it will become the truth which won’t set you free, but imprison you in your own self-pity.
Luckily, if you want to change your life, all you have to do is to change your stories into something more inspiring. But first, you really have to start paying attention to the ones that limit you.
Be mindful about every thought you can catch which may influence your behavior in a bad way leading to a lack of inspiration, motivation or will to try achieving what you desire.
And after you catch “I can’t do” thoughts or words, move on to step 2…
Step 2. Change your “I can’t do it” mindset into “I don’t want to“ mindset
Maybe this will come as a shock to you, but it’s not true that you CAN’T DO something.
The truth is you DON’T WANT TO.
It’s not true you can’t find a job; the truth is that you don’t want to work doing any random job, but rather a job that you’ll enjoy.
It’s not true you can’t lose weight; the truth is you don’t want to invest your time or energy into dieting, eating healthy or working out.
It’s not true you can’t travel; the truth is you’re not willing to spend enough time browsing for the most convenient or cheapest travel opportunities.
So please be honest with yourself, and stop telling yourself you can’t do something when the real truth is that you don’t want to. And that’s alright if you don’t.
But when you repeatedly tell an “I can’t” story you are sending your subconscious mind a message translated into “I’m not capable” which leaves you feeling stuck.
And, even if you think you don’t have knowledge, or experience, or competence you won’t try to acquire them just because you think you can’t.
When you transform your “I can’t do it” mindset into “I don’t want to” mindset at least you have a choice. You are more than capable, but you CHOOSE not to.
Step 3. De-Clutter Your Life & Choose Your “I will do it”
The best way to do this is to create a list of all the things you think you can’t do, and to transform them into “I don’t want to”. Be sure to do this on paper and then consider how it feels, to be honest with yourself.
Maybe some things from the “I don’t want to” list will sound like the truth, and it’s time to cross them over.
Sometimes we think we have to do something, we create plans around it, and afterwards we beat ourselves up for not doing it. So this is a great opportunity to eliminate all those plans and dreams you truly don’t want anymore.
Maybe those plans were other people’s expectations from you. Maybe that was something you wanted in the past but doesn’t correlate with who you are right now, or who you want to become in the future.
And it is perfectly alright to erase them from your list.
Does that feel like a relief? I bet it does.
But some dreams on your list will still be in “I really want that dream to come true” field. So create another list only of these items beginning the sentence with “I will do/think/experience/say_____ (fill in the blank)”.
And then, DO IT!
In order to succeed in any area of life or to achieve any goal you need to actually DO something about it. But without the right winning “I will” mindset it will be much harder.
So, the more you practice this new mindset, the more you will become a master of your thoughts, your life, and your wonderful achievements.
You will have your own back and be unstoppable.
Now, go for it!

4 Blaring Signs You Need A Career Change
Work life, either you love it or you hate it. Well that’s actually best-case scenario considering you would at least know where you stand on your career path. Unfortunately, most of us falls into another category when it comes to are current line on work or career.
We don’t really like the work we do but we don’t necessarily hate the work either. There may be things that truly get under your skin but your still kind of comfortable in the position. That’s a very dangerous place to be for anyone.
Let me take this a step further.
1. Your Life Has Evolved
If you asked me five years ago what the most thought-provoking thing was I had ever seen, I probably would have told you some anime show I was really into.
Ask me that same question now and you’ll get a 360-degree different answer. now the anime show I watched did not change, I’m the one who changed.
I’ve absorbed much different content, learned more about myself, learned more about the world we live in and just a host of new experiences that have give me a broadening of my perspectives. That being said, all of those same can be applied to career and work life.
Most of us in the beginning of our work life don’t know what we want to do with our life or have a vague idea of what we kind of want to do but don’t know how to go about it. Some people get into careers when they are young or single; then overtime their lives change and form to something that is really not conducive with their careers anymore.
Having kids, getting married or just gaining a new philosophy for yourself are all things that can change that. Another situation is that a lot of times we have a notion of what a job entails when we are young; but once we finally reach that career or position we see its not exactly what we thought it would be.
This is one of the worst things because, it can leave you feeling lost and confused about yourself
Whichever of these situations you find yourself into it is still ok. There is nothing wrong with out growing a position or career, to be honest it’s a true sign of growth. Don’t be afraid to act on those feelings. You have gut instincts for a reason.
2. Your Work Environment Does More Harm Than Help
The environment you work in plays a huge part not just in your work life but your life outside of work as well. Anyone who has ever worked in an office setting where their coworkers really didn’t like to be there; or the work they do so everyone’s all Nagy and always ready to snap at someone.
These kinds of people tend to really enjoy office gossip and just give the whole office a negative vibe. If I had to guess this is something that plagues many of a work place across the country.
What makes it even worse is that negative energy follows you home and can really stick with you if you aren’t careful. Its pretty much common knowledge that under chaotic or work environments with constant distractions work production is cut by more that 50%.
That’s really no surprise considering on average it takes about 25 minutes to get back focused once you’ve been distracted. What it all boils down to is, if your work environment is not working for you, then you shouldn’t be working for it.
3. Your Industry Is Dying
This is a huge one that a lot of people are facing in today’s work climate. Many industries have become all but extinct due to technology improvement and innovation.
Most people hear that and instantly think of the fast food industry and lower level jobs in that nature, but it goes far beyond just that. If you want a prime example, look no further that the taxi industry. It had been obliterated by the rapid rise of Uber.
Some of the biggest taxi companies that have established brands names and have been around for decades are finding themselves in a bit of trouble. There was no way they could have predicted such a service would come along that allows people to share their car with others, but it did.
Here are a few tips for those in a similar situation:
- Take the skills and knowledge you’ve amounted in your current career and find a way to apply it to another profession.
- Looks for possible innovations that can be implemented into your current field that beings it some new life.
- Simply find a new industry all together! That may sound scary but its never to late to learn something new.
There are so many options as comes to earning money and doing what you love. Don’t be afraid to try something new and refreshing if you feel your current position makes you feel old and stagnant or just doesn’t supply what you need anymore.
4. Your Work Does Not Inspire You Anymore
Finally, we are to the real meat and potatoes of this thing. One of the biggest issues with today’s society is that so many people are doing jobs that they A. don’t feel are important or truly impactful, B. the work they are doing does not inspire or spark them at all.
To be completely honesty it shows. So many people are unhappy with their lives; and a lot of times it stems from the kind of work they are doing on an everyday basis.
If you find yourself in this situation, get out now! I’m about to mention something we have all heard a million times but it’s true. Say you want to really excel at something, make sure it is something that you are passionate about because if its not it wont last.
The level of success that we all want takes more than just wanting it, you must have a bit of an obsession if you really, deeply want it. when times get hard your inspiration, hunger and drive is what will push you forward.
If you don’t have a powerful underlying reason for you wanting or doing something impactful or huge, what’s going to keep you going through the times of hardship? Those days will come but that’s all a part of the game.
Find a career path that not only gives you meaning but something that puts a fire in your soul. When you love what you do you are not working, your building. I promise it will take you far.
Here’s a quick recap on the 4 signs you need a career change:
- Your life has evolved
- Your work environment does more harm than help
- Your industry is dying
- Your work does not inspire you anymore

5 Ways Quitting Smoking is Beneficial for Your Career Development
Smoking has far-reaching consequences that are subtle enough for the layman to ignore. Its harm to the body is well established but modern research links smoking with decreased social life and work performance.
The indirect burden of smoking falls directly on the company’s books. Hence, major corporations discourage smoking in the workplace. The evidence against smoking and its negative link with one’s career is well documented in the report from Federal Bank of Atlanta that outlines the economic consequences of being a smoker.
It correctly states that not only companies but also individuals have to carry the burden of smoking. Smokers and non-smokers have a wide wage gap, with smokers earning lower wages on average.
It is no wonder that more and more companies now prefer nonsmokers and sometimes have no-smoking policies of their own. Medical establishments like Cleveland Clinic and Baylor Health Care System have a strict no-smoking policy for its employees while non-health corporations like Union Pacific Railroad, Scotts Miracle-Gro, and Alaska Airlines, have also shown the door to smokers.
5 Ways Quitting Smoking Boosts Your Career
Not all companies are so blatant but most workplaces have a negative-bias towards smoking, which hinders the smoker’s career to a large extent. In this article, we look at the ways smoking can cause irreplaceable damage to your career and work performance.
We will also look at some remedies through which you can minimize the harmful effects of smoking. First, let’s look at five ways on how your career can flourish by giving up the smoke.
1. Healthier Body
A healthy body is more efficient and productive, and one of the most important prerequisites to any job. A healthy body naturally makes us more active, focused and ambitious, which naturally reflects on our work performance and productivity.
Smoking has direct links with lethargy and exhaustion. It steals our precious energy to excel and makes us less ambitious. Scientific research shows that smoking causes a depletion of oxygen capacity of blood, which hinders vital life force to our organs and muscles, including our brain.
On the other hand, a healthier body has a robust circulation of blood, which helps them work extra-long hours with more efficiency. Smokers also tend to take more sick leaves which makes them lose focus on their work.
2. Confidence Boost
Smoking comes with a ton of side effects which affect our social life and consequently, our self-confidence. One of the most basic irritants of smoking is the lingering smell of burnt ashes, tar, and nicotine.
This smell is bad enough for people to ignore a smoker. Smoking also causes bad breath, discolored teeth, and pale skin, which have big psychological effects in a professional workplace. If you happen to be in the PR and Marketing sector, many people will form a negative perception, based on your hygiene.
These factors can be a big blow to your self-esteem and precipitate into workplace isolation or depression. On the brighter side, quitting smoking can improve your dental hygiene, skin, and save you from the smoky smell.
If you can’t quit smoking at once, consider regular e-cigs as one of the prevalent alternatives. The vaping community may have some real solutions for your smoking problem.
3. Role Model
We live in a society which is not only addictive to smoking but also recognizes its harmful effects.
This study, done by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, found that 70% of smokers wanted to quit smoking. Thus, society accepts the evils of smoking and it also naturally rewards nonsmokers.
Nonsmokers are often viewed subconsciously as role models, and they stand as a good leader. No company would want a smoker for a leadership role as it imbibes the organization with the wrong vibe.
These things mostly operate in our sub-conscious mind and non-smoker are perceived as more disciplined, focused and energetic than someone who slouches to smoke.
4. Improved Focus
Smoking has an ironical effect on our brain. In the short term, the nicotine push actually improves our concentration and focus. However, it takes our pleasure center to a new normal and it quickly becomes an irritant when there is no nicotine.
Without a constant supply of smoke, the heightened concentration wanes off and then the smoker tends to become fickle and erratic. In the long term, smoking is just being a slave to nicotine.
To control nicotine, you can either go for nicotine pills or vaping e-juices, both of which delivers controlled levels of nicotine for you to escape the addiction cycle.
Some of the best vapes in the vaping community have high levels of filtration and low levels of nicotine, which is way more desirable than smoking a full cigarette.
4. Less Stress and Anxiety
Smoking has been associated with increased levels of stress and anxiety.
Constant smoking causes an overflow of dopamine, a chemical that is responsible for uplifting our moods, in our brain. The excess amount of dopamine has withdrawal symptoms when it starts to return to normal levels.
This causes inner stress without any outer cause and aggravates itself in any particular stressful situation. In some cases, the pent-up stress explored into fits of rage and anger. This is extremely undesirable in a workplace and can put a big black spot in your career.
Short-term pleasure-seeking, which is caused by excessive dopamine, also clouds our thinking and our perception of long-term risks. If you are prone to high blood pressure or have problems managing your stress, you should seek medical/psychological care rather than puffing on your cigarette.
Smoking is the root of many evils. Most smokers are just victims of the fast pace of 21st-century lifestyle and fake perceptions created in popular media. Many consider it as a necessary evil to get on with the day, and there is some bit of truth in there.
However, smoking is the leading cause of preventable deaths in the US. It may be a painful sacrifice but completely doable. Many ex-smokers have successfully transformed themselves with the help of vaping.
If you follow vape news, then you should know that vaping is one of the purest alternatives to smoking tobacco. Vaping is basically vaporizing e-juices or dry herbs, and not burning them. An average smoke from a cigarette carries more than 7000 chemicals and most of it comes from the burning of dry leaves.
On the other hand, e-cig smokers enjoy pure e-vapor, devoid of any tar, ashes, or harmful residue. If you wish to evolve yourself out of smoking but you are struggling with the withdrawal symptoms, then vaping might just be the most pragmatic thing for you to do.
The meticulous study from BMJ Journals details out the impact of smoking on work performance. It concludes that smokers have greater absenteeism due to sickness, decreased attention span, are more stressful and costs the company more money in lost man-hours.
But in the first place, quitting smoking is your window of opportunity. Just think how productive, relaxed, focused and self-satisfied you would be.

Why People Often Give up on the Journey to Success
Almost everybody wants to achieve massive financial success;
But only a handful of us manage to achieve it.
In the early stages of the journey to success; people are always enthusiastic, and they have no doubt in their mind that they’ll be able to pull it off.
However, after long periods of hard, gruelling work; many people give up because they find out that financial success is seriously tough to achieve. Only a few people manage to stick it out until they reach their own definition of the word.
Why People Give Up on the Journey to Success
After analyzing many successful people, as well as those who never reached their goals; it dawned on me that there is a major reason why some people give up. And why some persevere on this journey to success.
There are primary factors involved, in which the people who fail do not embrace. These are the factors make them give up whilst still only working towards their goals. Those who finish the race embrace these factors, while those who fail to embrace them, never achieve success.
Here are 7 major factors that make people give up on their journey to success:
Humility is an essential factor on the road to success. Success in almost anything requires individuals to embrace humility. Many entrepreneurs claim that they had to conduct door to door sales in the early stages of their businesses.
Besides this, some actors such as Emilia Clarke, claim that they had to accept insignificant roles in the first stages of their careers before they were given major roles.
Despite the fact that humility is essential for the early stages of any career, many people give up after realizing that they will have to be down to earth in the beginning stages for them advance further.
In this egocentric society people feel ashamed to act humble, and so they avoid situations that force them to be humble at all costs.
2. Extremely Hard Work
50 Cent revealed that he worked so hard that he sacrificed sleeping for three days. He claimed that sleep is for poor people.
Hard work is, therefore, the key to success.
Hard work leads to mastery, self-confidence, builds character, and it also leads to luck because luck occurs when opportunity meets preparedness. Those who manage to succeed know the importance of hard work, and therefore, they embrace it by making hard work a habit.
However, the average person is pretty damn lazy. They only work 8 to 10 hours a day, and then clock out and shut off, still expecting to succeed in life. The average person gives up when they realize that achieving success requires them to get out of their comfort zone and work hard, both day and night.
3. Risk Taking
Success requires an individual to take a massive amount of risks, ranging from personal to financial risks.
Analyse the biographies of successful people, and you will realize that a large percentage of them took large risks. Such as investing all their funds in a project, dropping out of college, or quitting their jobs.
However, the average person avoids taking risks, and if he takes a big risk and fails, he gives up to go back to mind numbing safe and secure ventures.
Perseverance is a critical factor in the journey to prosperity. In my opinion, perseverance is the ability to continue having faith and working hard towards your goals even when things are not going as you expected. Many people give up when they face massive setbacks.
However, only the brave and the bold persevere regardless of how man heart-breaking obstacles they encounter. Jack Ma, the internet entrepreneur, worked on Alibaba in its early stages despite the fact that the company failed to achieve profits in the first three years.
Today, Alibaba is one of the most valuable companies in the world, and Jack Ma is one of the richest people in the world.
A lack of patience is what makes many people give up chasing their dreams. Statistics reveal that it takes 5 to 10 years of hard work on a project before it becomes incredibly successful.
However, many individuals give up, especially if they don’t see huge results after a month, 3 months, 6 months, a year, even 3 years in. Giving up after 3 years in is stupid. You’ve already put in all the hard work. You’re so close. The modern world is governed by instant gratification: people expect success to show up on their doorsteps after few months of putting in effort.
We want to succeed as fast as possible; and we, therefore, quit when we realize just how long it’s actually going to take for even the first signs of success to appear.
Gary Vaynerchuk, an author and internet personality, once said that the main reason why people fail to achieve success is the lack of optimism. I absolutely agree with him.
Optimism refers to the confidence about the realization of a specific expected outcome. In the beginning steps of the journey to success, many people are always optimistic about the achievement of their goals.
However, after facing some obstacles, the level of optimism in most people greatly reduces hence resulting in them giving up. Only the individuals who are optimistic regardless of whatever happens are those who manage to achieve success.
The optimists often fail to give up because even if they face obstacles, they always believe that success is around the corner.
Those who manage to achieve financial success often have faith in their abilities: they believe in their skills, and they know that nothing can stop them.
Besides this, it is easy for a self-confident person to achieve success because they believe in their ability to overcome any problems that they might face.
Self-confidence ensures an individual continues moving forward even if they knows that there’s a very hard and mentally challenging climb to come. On the other hand, it is easy for an under-confident individual to give up because they’re discouraged by the slightest problem that they might face.
Also, an under-confident person often fails to think rationally because the lack of faith in themselves ensures that they make emotional decisions. Lastly, an under-confident person always gives up because they shy away from obstacles; simply because they don’t think they can overcome them.
Here’s a quick recap on the 7 major factors why people give up on the journey to success:
- Extremely hard work
- Risk Taking
